When FANTOMAS first hit the scene with 1999's self-titled entry into the world of the avant-garde, many questioned the longevity of the supergroup comprised of MIKE PATTON (FAITH NO MORE, MR. BUNGLE), BUZZ OSBORNE (MELVINS), TREVOR DUNN (MR.BUNGLE, SECRET CHIEFS 3), and DAVE LOMBARDO (SLAYER).

When Mattel announced earlier this year that their Fisher-Price division would be giving the iconic Little People a makeover, I wondered what would happen with the seasonal exclusive toys that they'd been known to offer. The answer is that they've been revamped, with each scene now including the updated figures. I'm kicking off The Rock Father's 31 Days of Halloween 2013 with some new toys that feature a Hayride, a Pumpkin Party, and a Trick-or-Treat Surprise. I figure if you want these toys for your little one(s), you'll need to get them ordered right away.

There has never been, nor will there ever be, another Halloween special as timeless as the 1966 classic, IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN. That said, it's only fitting that I include the Peanuts gang in 31 Days of Halloween on the big day itself. If you don't already have it on DVD or Blu-Ray (or maybe, even if you do), ABC will be running THE GREAT PUMPKIN tonight at 8pm ET.

31 Days of Halloween: Scooby-Doo

As our three-year-old continues to grow and explore, it's interesting to see what elements of pop culture she's starting to identify with. One recent interest is perfect for the spooky season, and comes in at Day 30 of this year's 31 Days of Halloween. I'm talking about a mystery-solving Great Dane known as SCOOBY-DOO.

The CARE BEARS might not immediately come to mind when thinking of Halloween, though a line of Costumes (mostly dresses) and a seasonal compilation of 80s cartoon episodes called "Bears Share A Scare" does exist on DVD. For 2012, however, CARE BEARS: WELCOME TO CARE-A-LOT (currently airing on The Hub) took a step into frightful territory with the episode entitled, "Sleuth of Bears."

I turned 36 last week, and while many people would say "that isn't really old," I sure feel old when I think about how much Trick or Treating has changed over the past 30 years or so. Raising a pair of daughters in 2012 and beyond, gone is much of the spooky fun that was experienced as a child growing up in the 80s.
