When it comes to video gaming, I still have not yet entered the "Next Generation," which is technically already here. I've also not yet played DISNEY INFINITY, despite covering news on it for over a year at this point - but the upcoming release of DISNEY INFINITY: MARVEL SUPER HEROES (2.0 Edition) just might be the push I need. But then there's conflict since I've long been a loyalist to the Microsoft XBOX 360, but Sony's PS4 is looking more and more appealing with the news that landed here at Rock Father HQ this evening: Disney and Sony have teamed up for a Collector's Edition for both PS4 and PS3, and a hardware bundle for the PS3 (not sure why they wouldn't go PS4 on that, though). Check out the trailer and specs...

Last week, in the midst of all the Toy Fair news out of New York came an announcement from Activision that sorta flew under the radar for a lot of people... myself included. Set for release on June 10, 2014 is TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE DARK SPARK, a new video game for XBOX ONE, Playstation 4, XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo 3DS and WiiU that is intended to serve as a follow-up to the upcoming TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION film (out June 27 via Paramount Pictures) and Activision's previous TRANSFORMERS: WAR FORCYBERTRON and TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON games. Take a look at the trailer below...

Last month, the surprise European hit FARMING SIMULATOR arrived in the U.S. for XBOX 360 and PS3. I was immediately interested, and the folks behind the game had a "care package" sent to Rock Father HQ that was one of the most creative promotional items I've ever received: A collection of artisan snacks and treats from the Heartland of America... Kansas. While I personally remain an XBOX loyalist, what I've got for you today is a giveaway that's solely for my friends that have a Sony Playstation 3. Ten (10!) lucky readers will receive a copy of FARMING SIMULATOR 2013 for PS3!

Now this is really cool. Having spent a lot of time on my Grandparents' farm as a kid, that lifestyle had a big impact on me, and I share that with my children today through the Gardening we do here at Rock Father HQ. While we may not have a full-scale farm (I'd love that), growing veggies and teaching the girls has been a real joy. Now comes word that FARMING SIMULATOR is coming to XBOX 360 and PS3 next month after a successful run on PC. I'm digging the idea of learning about farming through console gaming. Take a peek below...

It's the next-to-last week for regularly-scheduled DLC on the ROCK BAND platform as Harmonix wraps things up after more than five years of weekly rock. For those of you still rocking the plastic instruments, CHEVELLE makes their ROCK BAND debut with a trio of tracks. Interestingly enough, these guys hail from a location very close to Rock Father HQ (they even played a local show in Arlington Heights at H.O.M.E. tonight), and back when their album WONDER WHAT'S NEXT came out in 2002, I personally sold a bunch of copies to their families at the Sam Goody store I used to run. Good memories from a time when the music business was still a business fun.

There's only three weeks of regularly-scheduled DLC for ROCK BAND before it all comes to an end after an impressive run lasting more than five years (unheard of in the gaming world). For those of you still rockin' the plastic instruments with your friends and family, this Tuesday brings a collection of songs from KOOL & THE GANG, TEARS FOR FEARS, and SHINEDOWN to the platform. Harmonix sent over the updates, and I've got them posted on The Rock Father for you below...
