The Rock Father's Greatest Hits of 2012

Ahhh.... the customary "year-in-review..." post  is here. I'll just come right out and say it: 2012 was a good year for me, and it started pretty early on. The decision to ditch my old writing/editing gig in favor of building The Rock Father™ into it's own "Empire" was the catalyst for many adventures for which I'm grateful. As many of you have just discovered the site in the past few months, there's certainly some good stuff that you might've missed, and thus the "year-end wrap-up" is a prime opportunity to check out some highlights. I always feel like these year-end posts are just self-appreciative horn-tooting sessions, and maybe they are, so I've assembled some "Greatest Hits" from the past twelve months, while mixing it up with some Rock Father adventures from other sites and beyond...

Baby Loves Disco is becoming quite the sensation Nationwide as parents and kids gather at a variety of of nightspots to get down with the disco hits of the 70s and 80s. While there's a ton of Fall events currently on the calendar for families across the country (click here to find one near you), those in The Rock Father's hometown of Chicago can look forward to a residency at Beauty Bar, with events taking place from noon-2:30pm on 10/13, 11/10, and 12/03.

With summer winding to a close, it was time for another family adventure - this one just a short drive north, across the border and into Wisconsin. For me, this was my second visit to The Bristol Renaissance Faire (the first was last year), while it was round three for Addie and my wife, and the first for new baby, Finley. Accompanied by "Auntie Jill," we crossed into Bristol and took a step back in time to the year 1574.

It was three years ago today that the inspiration for The Rock Father entered our lives: Adalyn Monet is 3! It was also 13 years ago today that my wife and I were married. Yes, it's a day for dual celebration, as the little one arrived on our 10th Anniversary back in 2009. With the birthday falling during the week this year, we held our annual summer gathering together with Addie's 3rd Birthday Party this past Saturday, and today I'm sharing some photos with you here on the site. The theme for the party this year? Caillou.

Today we have a guest blog from a fellow Rock Father - Tom Stevens, guitarist/vocalist of NOKTURNEL, expert snake handler, and Disney aficionado. Together with his wife, Eloisa, they've got Orlando down to a science, and today Tom's dishing on Disney's BoardWalk Villas.

After counting down the days and weeks here on The Rock Father, the newest member of the family has arrived - right on schedule. At 12:38pm yesterday, our second daughter, Finley Renoir was born. My wife did an awesome job, staying awake through the entire C-section, and Addie (not quite three) is thrilled to be a big sister. As a new life begins, so does an entirely new adventure - one that will be documented here on the site. Also, as of tomorrow (Father's Day), The Rock Father is officially one year old! Lots to celebrate. Pictures? Yes, I have some pictures. Just a few for now...
