While we're still on baby watch here at Rock Father HQ, Colorado-based ARCANIUM have just released their official lyric video for the song ''Blind Sided,'' and it was edited/chopped together by yours truly. Lately, I've been helping some bands create cost-effective lyric videos and album trailers, and I prefer working with up-and-comers. Check out this new clip below, then give ARCANIUM a 'Like' over on Facebook.  The band is currently seeking a label home for their new album, ONTOGENESIS.

Baby Watch 2012: The Sibling Class...

I don't know if they had such a thing when I was a kid, but we took the munchkin to a 'sibling class' last week. Since we're in the final countdown stages of Baby Watch 2012, we're getting the little one used to the idea that she will soon have a sidekick. What this means for me is that I'll likely wind up tied to the ground Guilliver's Travels-style in a few years - a victim to the mischievous female offspring. For the immediate days ahead, we're getting Daughter #1 excited for Daughter #2.

I need to lower my expectations for everything. As depressing as that may sound, it's true. We've been having bad luck when it comes to cool-sounding events being 'as-advertised' when we actually get there. The May Kid's Workshop at Home Depot? No exception. On a National Scale, I think this is a great program with great partners - but my local store was lacking in execution. Allow me to explain...

At this point, I am 100% convinced that any ploy to get me into a store - no matter how good the intention - will be capped off with some level of disappointment. I give you FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2012.

This past Friday, the little one and I took a little road trip to Wilmot, Wisconsin. About 30 minutes from Rock Father HQ in Illinois, Wilmot is home to more than a 'Mountain,' but also a warehouse for AMERICAN GIRL, and THE MATTEL TOY STORE. I'd found the latter by accident last year while heading up to Twin Lakes for a rock show. After coming back home, I hit Google to find out just what exactly I'd seen out there on that dark, Fall night. While turning a corner, I spotted a plain white sign that read 'The Mattel Toy Store.' Sure enough, the toy maker operates their own chain of stand-alone stores in special locations around the country. A few months ago, we made the trip for the first time. On Friday, we went back.

I've always wanted to go to SESAME PLACE, a quest that likely began in the early 1980's when the OAK RIDGE BOYS released a music video that was filmed in the now-defunct location in Irving, Texas. On June 2-3, 2012 - The SESAME PLACE in Langhorne, PA will be hosting a ''Sprout Weekend with Chica and Super Why,'' and if my second daughter wasn't due less than two weeks from those dates, we might've seriously considered the trek. My daughter absolutley loves Chica from Sprout's SUNNY SIDE UP SHOW, and SESAME STREET and SUPER WHY are both on the daily viewing schedule here at Rock Father HQ.
