Summer is a prime time to unplug and let the imagination run wild, and with that, I'm always big on dress-up play. Right now (while supplies last) my affiliate, BuyCostumes has a crazy deal on a GREEN LANTERN costume - perfect for your little member of DC Comics' GREEN LANTERN CORPS. Want a full uniform for under $7 Bucks??! Yep, I said it was a "crazy" deal, and right now you can score a  $60 costume for $6.50.

This past February, when I was out visiting Walt Disney Animation Studios to get an inside look at a little movie they did called "FROZEN" (perhaps you've heard of it?), I came to a hallway that presented a very specific "No Photos" warning, complete with icons for just about every social network you can think of. No Instagramming... no Twittering... no Facebooking... absolutely no leaks from the project known as BIG HERO 6. You see, BIG HERO 6 is the first property to cross-over into Disney Animation from the MARVEL comics world, and thus become the 54th Feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now, the first trailer has arrived...

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 swung into theaters this weekend, scoring some BIG box office receipts, with over $92M in the United States, and a $116M haul Internationally - not bad for the second "Amazing" big-screen incarnation of the titular web-slinger. While I haven't seen the film yet, we have checked out a couple of the toys from Hasbro's latest MARVEL-based offerings. Yes, the toy aisles are once again loaded with new Spider-goodies, and here's a quick look at a pair of items sent to us for review, along with a rundown of what else Hasbro has in-store...

On May 2, Columbia Pictures will release THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, and today the final trailer has arrived. My thoughts? The original Spider-man film series with Tobey Maguire was massive (remember how big the opening weekend for the first was?), but they haven't aged well at all... to the point where I don't even want to see them again. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN reinvented that world (some would say "too soon"), and this trailer for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2? This just might be the Spider-man movie that we've all been waiting for. It looks badass. Talke a peek...

Review - THOR: THE DARK WORLD (Blu-ray)

While I try to review all materials objectively, it's impossible for me to avoid noting that THOR has traditionally been my least favorite member of THE AVENGERS' A-list tier. Despite the excellent job that Chris Hemsworth has done in portraying the character in numerous films as a part of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe, the 80s kid in me still can't shake two things that helped shape my flesh-and-blood idea of the Mighty God of Thunder: 1988's made-for-TV THE INCREDIBLE HULK RETURNS (featuring what may have been the first "legit" live-action Thor), and 1987's ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING (which had a whole Thor subplot). That said, Hemsworth's version of THOR has made me warm up a bit toward the character, and that made me eager to check out his latest big-screen adventure, THOR: THE DARK WORLD.

MARVEL's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is blasting into theaters via The Walt Disney Company on August 1, and Hasbro is bringing the adventure into the toy aisles this summer with a full line of action figures, vehicles and role-play toys. I can dig it, and tonight I've got a look at these new goodies from the ever-expanding MARVEL Cinematic Universe, all for your browsing pleasure, right here on THE ROCK FATHER.
