Around the Blogosphere, there has been a lot of discussion regarding “gender-neutral” toys in recent months. There’s been a lot of finger-pointing at toymakers and retailers for allegedly embracing stereotypes, though more often then not, I tend to see parents making an attempt to guide their children toward or away from certain playthings – not some faceless, corporate overlords. I say, “let the kids play with what they’d like.”
As the father of a newborn, I've recently been reminded of a pet peeve that I haven't really thought much of since getting past the pacifier stage with our first daughter a few years back. Actually, I might've mentioned it in passing here on The Rock Father once before, but in recent weeks this little annoyance has become an irritation with increasing regularity. I'm talking about parents (or others - at the store, at the playgroup, etc.) that refer to any child's pacifier as a "Binky" by default. The reason? Most of the time, they're sorely mistaken.
Sad news today as Optimus Prime, leader of the TRANSFORMERS faction known as the 'Autobots' was found dead in Illinois. After a valiant battle, it appears that Prime's final defeat came not at the hands of the rival 'Decepticons,' but within the tight grasp of a car crusher. Photos from the scene can be viewed below, exclusively on The Rock Father.
People still ask me pretty frequently what exactly I do for a living. I work all the time, though some of my neighbors still think I don't work at all, and some family members still give me the 'deer-in-the-headlights' look at every gathering, prompted by my responses to their own questions of ''What have you been working on?'' Then there's the even more annoying ones that hit me with twenty questions about just how exactly I do certain things. It's very frustrating that they'll never understand or respect the many adventures that I get to have as The Rock Father™ and beyond. My latest adventure? I was given the privilege of creating the new FEAR FACTORY video.
So what does my offline work include these days? Well, I've been doing some directing and editing again, and the latest piece has hit the 'web as of this afternoon. Below the break you can check out the official ''lyric video'' for the new DIRGE WITHIN single entitled For My Enemies. The video was put together by yours truly, and the song will be featured on the band's sophomore album THERE WILL BE BLOOD, which arrives at retail on April 10, 2012 via THC: Music, Rocket Science Ventures, and SONY RED Distribution.
