Well, this certainly came out of the blue this morning... and The Rock Father™ approves.
I'm still a little weirded out when I see MARVEL merchandise inside THE DISNEY STORE (even though I love both brands), but it's even weirder when someone from Disney sends you a preview of brand-NEW music from SOUNDGARDEN via AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: Music From and Inspired by the Motion Picture. Would you like to hear a 22-second snippet of the first new SOUNDGARDEN single in 15 years? S.H.I.E.L.D. commands you to read on... and Live to Rise.
I have not yet seen THE MUPPETS, the 2011 Disney relaunch of the beloved characters to the big screen on which they belong. Yes, it was released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Download this week, but I haven't gotten to it just yet. In promotion of the home video release, THE MUPPETS have been popping up all over the place, most recently on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE (a show I was almost on once). Last night, DR TEETH & THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM paid a visit to the show, bringing with them guest drummer TRAVIS BARKER. While they busted out the classic tune Can You Picture That?, this was a perfect opportunity for ANIMAL to square off in a drum battle with the BLINK-182 skin-basher. Check out The Rock Father approved video below!
I'm a big fan of EARTH FRIENDLY PRODUCTS. In addition to being a local, Illinois-based business, they make some of the best, 100% natural household products that we've ever tried. Back in December, I reviewed their ''Safeguard Your Home Pack'' here on The Rock Father™, after having already used their ECOS laundry detergent for quite some time. My only gripe thus far is that their products aren't carried in enough major retailers (get crackin', Target, Walmart, and Babies R Us!). With their latest announcement, however, that should be changing pretty quickly. DISNEY BABY ECOS is on the way!
Much to the delight of children everywhere, DISNEY/PIXAR have finally released CARS 2, the sequel to the 2006 hit that features a host of colorful anthropomorphic autos on a globetrotting adventure. As goes with the territory, there's a merchandise explosion, with nearly every store bursting at the seams with licensed CARS 2 toys, clothing, games, and more. While the film features a female 'lead' of sorts with the purple car HOLLEY SHIFTWELL (voiced by Emily Mortimer) joining the story along with SALLY CARRERA (voiced by Bonnie Hunt) and LIZZIE (voiced by Katherine Helmond) from the original CARS - good luck finding any tie-in merch aimed at little girls.

Released theatrically in 3-D this past July, Disney's G-FORCE was met with lukewarm critical reviews despite positive audience reaction and a box office take of over $119M (falling short of it's estimated $150M budget). There's not a lot you can say about a film in which CGI Guinea Pigs fight the forces of evil alongside live-action human counterparts to sell it upon an adult audience without realizing that adults aren't the audience. It's a film distinctly aimed at kids.
