If you think you've heard about this one before, you're correct. Way back in 2004 - years before becoming "The Rock Father," I was working regularly in television and film, and pretty much dropped everything to focus on bringing one of my own visions to the big screen - a genre-bending crime/horror hybrid called DEATH WALKS THE STREETS (DWTS). The tagline was a big hook - "Vampires. Demons. Zombies. Werewolves. The Mob." - and what followed was a few years of absolute craziness that saw the in-development film and its two planned sequels (one was written) get coverage in major media, get nominated for a Spike Scream Award for "Most Anticipated Film" (a category sponsored by Hot Topic) and the ahead-of-their-time video "making-of" video podcasts get nominated for an Emmy, all while casting was tackled, set/costume/prop design was completed, and special FX tests were underway. Sadly, the project fell apart due to a massive storm of "circumstances beyond our control" for my co-writer and I, but the plus side is that a prequel comic book series took shape in the years that followed.

13 years into the DWTS journey, there's still new friends discovering the DWTS world for the very first time, and in the eight years since the first comic was published, new readers have been enjoying and experiencing our stories on a weekly basis. For Halloween, we're inviting YOU to experience DEATH WALKS THE STREETS through a FREE DOWNLOAD of DWTS #0 and DWTS #1 (the Halloween issue!) via Noisetrade Books!

Familiar? Haven't we done this before? We have, and the cycle will continue...

ABC just announced their cast for Season 25 of DANCING WITH THE STARS, and as usual, fans are taking to twitter to air their excitement or concern by tweeting @DWTS. Thing is, on twitter that means they're reaching the original DWTS... or at least a DWTS that staked (like a vampire) the acronym before "Dancing," and that's DEATH WALKS THE STREETS. If you haven't been playing along for the past 13 or so years, the #OriginalDWTS is a genre-bending transmedia property created by someone very familiar to readers of this site... yours truly. Curious?

And so it begins again...

ABC just announced their cast for Season 23 of DANCING WITH THE STARS, and as usual, fans are taking to twitter to air their excitement or concern by tweeting @DWTS. Thing is, on twitter that means they're reaching the original DWTS... or at least a DWTS that staked (like a vampire) the acronym before "Dancing," and that's DEATH WALKS THE STREETS. This morning, my friends over at ABC made their official cast announcement for the 22nd Season of DANCING WITH THE STARS, ushering in a new round of fan excitement... and opening a fresh batch of weirdness for me. You see, as much as I love ABC (and do some cool stuff with them from time-to-time), when it comes to certain social aspects of "Dancing," there's been some confusion that dates back to the MySpace heyday of 2005, and continues now on Twitter... because I own the handle @DWTS. Indeed, if you tweet @DWTS, there's a solid chance that The Rock Father will be answering, as 'DWTS' is also the acronym for DEATH WALKS THE STREETS, the transmedia property that I created originally as a screenplay back in 2004, and continue rolling with, making plans to eventually launch further comic adventures somewhere down the line (you can get two issues of the DWTS Comic Books FREE from Noisetrade). So you want to find out who's dancing when DANCING WITH THE STARS returns live MONDAY, MARCH 21 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT)?

It's Fall, and with my favorite time of year comes some changes in habits - and, a few that are just seasonal alterations to the regular routine. Living in The Midwest, October brings a vibe that's unlike other areas of the country during this season. While the crisp air, harvest aromas and oodles of seasonal fun can be found in many parts of the U.S., it always seems that The Midwest becomes a bit darker... and a bit spookier. There's a good reason why so many horror movies are set in The Midwest, and right here in my home State of Illinois - they're rooted in reality! Michael Myers? Haddonfield, Illinois. Crystal Lake? There is one. Elm Street? Lots of 'em. POLTERGEIST III, CANDYMAN and CHILD'S PLAY? All set in Illinois. You want to survive October in The Land of Lincoln? I'll give you five essentials - but keep in mind that these are great tools to use no matter where you might roam... It's werewolf season.
