"I was extremely into the whole idea of being a father," states Tom Stevens, recalling the moments in which he realized he would soon become a Father. "I felt that having a promising future as a family man was just meant to be after I met my wife. I never had any interest in it before then but I changed a lot in a short period of time. I was more excited than afraid - it is a lot to take in even when you know it is coming. I am sure I was not as cool as I remember myself being, but my reaction was that good kind of shock that leaves you speechless and smiling." An occasional contributor to THE ROCK FATHER website (specializing in Disney travel), Stevens multi-tasks as the driving force behind NOKTURNEL, while running a leather business with his wife, and raising snakes! Above all, he's a great Dad, and finds himself featured here ahead of Rock Father's Day 2014.

"I think I was in our bathroom and the wife said 'IT'S POSITIVE!,'" recalls Shaun Glass of THE BLOODLINE and BROKEN HOPE while discussing the moment he realized he'd soon become a father for the very first time. "I just was overwhelmed and couldn't believe it! It hit me the next morning, lying In bed thinking, 'Wow I'm going to be a father,'" he continues, thinking about his earliest days as a "Rock Father," ahead of #RockFathersDay 2014 as he prepares the next moves in his lengthy musical career, with one album by BROKEN HOPE just-released, and another from THE BLOODLINE in production now...

As I approached the iconic marquee in front of The Metro in Chicago last night, I realized something: I hadn't been to a show there in a very long time. During the mid-late 90s (and even into the early 00s), The Metro was a regular haunt for me - a place to check a host of metal, industrial, punk, hardcore and alternative shows. I saw bands like ACUMEN NATION and SMASHING PUMPKINS on that stage, took my wife to see MR. BUNGLE there, and saw countless, no-name local thrashers who would eventually disappear back into the shadows from which they came.

It's 11:30pm and I'm listening to "Ghastly," one of the new songs on OMEN OF DISEASE, the forthcoming album from reformed Chicago Death Metallers BROKEN HOPE. The kids are in bed... so is the wife, so I can have a little old-school evil emitting from my speakers. Truth be told, BH bassist Shaun Glass is a friend - a fellow "Rock Father" himself - and someone I've done work for in the past. If you dig the hard stuff, you, too can be listening to "Ghastly" in a few moments... it's being offered as a FREE DOWNLOAD via Century Media Records!
