The American International Toy Fair will begin this weekend in New York, and while The Rock Father won't be there in-person (maybe next year), the news continues rolling in here at Rock Father HQ. HASBRO will be rolling out a ton of new toys this weekend, and this morning I've got a preview of new offerings for kids of all-ages. With iconic brands like TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, STAR WARS, G.I. JOE, PLAY-DOH, FURBY, BABY ALIVE, TWISTER, and ANGRY BIRDS represented, there's a little something for everyone. Check out some highlights below.

TRANSFORMERS... oh how I love thee. As a child of the 80s, TRANSFORMERS were a staple of my youth and their influence continues. Sitting to my left as I type this is a one-of-a-kind OPTIMUS PRIME that I got for doing a little viral video for G4's ATTACK OF THE SHOW back in 2007. My point? There's always a TRANSFORMER nearby here at Rock Father HQ. My oldest daughter is just starting to recognize the primary characters in the TF universe, and while it's been a little G1 action peppered with some RESCUE BOTS, she's starting to know what's up. Hence, it was a lot of fun building the new "BATTLE FOR ENERGON" set from Hasbro's TRANSFORMERS Kre-O line.

Can you believe it's only 21 days until Christmas? I can't, and something tells me that these next three weeks will be flying by faster than a reindeer-powered sleigh full of toys. When I was a kid, I'd always look forward to the possibility of some new TRANSFORMERS under the tree, and another thing I always dug was building bricks. Now, 25+ years later, the folks at Hasbro have combined both of those into a new line of KRE-O TRANSFORMERS that are ready to "roll out" for the kids of 2012. How would you like to win a set?

The folks over at Disney Consumer Products have revealed their list of the Top Ten "Must Have" Holiday Gifts from their own collection. Their official picks come from across the Disney spectrum including Disney·Pixar Cars, Disney Princess character Cinderella, Disney Fairies, Doc McStuffins, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man, Winnie the Pooh and Wreck-It Ralph. The Rock Father has the run-down below, along with pics and a few nudges toward where you can snag some of these items for your own little ones. Some of them are already selling out...

First a story about G.I Joe, and now I get to write about TRANSFORMERS in the same day? Indeed, that's the case as Hasbro has announced that the focus for TRANSFORMERS in 2013 will be TRANSFORMERS PRIME BEAST HUNTERS. With little ones here in The Rock Father house, we're more in RESCUE BOTS mode, but Daddy still checks out the bigger bots on frequent occasion. In fact, I actually own a one-of-a-kind Optimus Prime that came to me direct from the Hasbro Design Team back in '07 (for a little something I did for G4). As for the new BEAST HUNTERS, what are they all about? Read on...

I love G.I. JOE. Growing up in the 80s, I had such a ridiculously extensive collection of the figures and vehicles, and obsession no doubt driven by the cartoon series, which I watched religiously. I never did get that massive 7-foot-long aircraft carrier, though - but a kid down the street had it (I was always envious of that fact). While I don't know if my daughters will ever get into the world of G.I. JOE (though the cartoon has gotten some play), I still enjoy browsing the 'Joe section when we hit Toys "R" Us. That said, there's a new line of G.I. JOE toys coming out next year, and they've got a nod to the past.
