Holiday 2014For the past couple of years, DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD has been such a fixture here at Rock Father HQ that the characters of the Neighborhood of Make Believe feel like family. Having written about The Fred Rogers Company-produced series even pre-dating my own work with the PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent) team, there's an inexplicable feeling of warmth and goodness that occurs just from hearing the music alone. When the JAKKS Pacific toy line was first announced, the girls and I were excited to get our hands on some, and in the year or so that's passed, we've bought some and we've received some along the way. Heck, I've even taken Daniel with as a traveling companion, and since the girls play with their figures almost daily (they're regularly intermixed with a core group of toys here), I'm including the entire DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD line in my 2014 Holiday Wish Guide here on THE ROCK FATHER.

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood 5-Pack Figures

Perhaps the simplest, and most perfect item available from this collection, the core group of friends - Daniel Tiger, Prince Wednesday, Miss Elaina, Katarina Kittycat and O the Owl - are presented in little 3-inch scale action figures. These tiny guys and gals have had hundreds of adventures with our family... and a few of them have even gone missing on occasion, always to be found eventually (Little Finley likes to hide things). They're the perfect size to interact with other figures we have, frequently crossing over with other characters from PBS KIDS and beyond.

And you can't have the figures without having the Trolley, and that's why Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Trolley is a must-have! With pull-back action and a working bell, the figures can ride inside using foot pegs. When I was in San Francisco earlier this year for the PBS Annual Meeting, I took Daniel and the Trolley to where the real Trolleys live!

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Mini Plush Assortment

The 7" Daniel Tiger from this collection is actually the first DT toy we received, arriving here from PBS HQ in the summer of 2013. Since then, the girls each have their own, and O the Owl has joined the crew. The Daniel from this collection has also been around a bit, having accompanied us to numerous parks and outside adventures.

Daniel Tiger Neighborhood Friend Talking Plush

The folks at JAKKS sent us one of these, and boy has he been loved. This 12" plush is snuggly-soft, and speaks a mix of 14 phrases + includes snippets of the famous theme song.

New Items for Holiday 2014: In recent months, the folks at JAKKS Pacific have release some new items that we don't yet have - from a "Mini-Playset" Assortment, to a bathtub playset and the Goodnight Daniel Plush with Tige-y.
