Halloween Review: WindowFX Plus Holiday Video Decorating Kit

Written by

A few days ago, the girls and I were over at The Home Depot - picking up our first round of fall flowers, and scoping out the new assortment of Halloween decor that THD has to offer. They've upped their game this year, and I could do some serious damage if set loose in there. Truth be told, Home Depot can be a dangerously-tempting place, and I'm still paying off our last project loan from when we gutted the bathrooms here at Rock Father HQ and rebuilt them from the bare studs. When it comes to the "Big Two" on the holiday front - Halloween & Christmas - I'm all over the decor, so it was a nice coincidence when The Home Depot sent us their new WindowFX Plus Projector for review.

Updated for 2017, this Holiday Video Decorating Kit allows families a quick and easy way to decorate an area often left out - their windows (funny enough - I also bought our windows from The Home Depot). I tend to do a lot of exterior lighting, but between the frames it's usually dark. With the WindowFX Plus, it's easy to add some cool flair for the entire neighborhood to enjoy.

Simply place the included 4x6' screen across any window (horizontal or vertical) and attach using the included double-sided tape (use caution depending on the surface). Then place the projector 3-8' from the screen to get the action started. While I used the 6" flexible tripod for the purpose of our trial run, I plan to use one of my standard tripods as we move into the Halloween season - just for some better placement options based on the room.

Pre-loaded with 14 scenes for year-round use, simply cycle through to pick which ones you want, and you're set. There's also a USB port and HDMI input for streaming from other devices or updating the on-board selection with additional video decorations available for download. One thing I really like is that you can connect the projector to external speakers (it does have a small speaker built-in) via a standard jack, or using Bluetooth connectivity.

Our neighbors got an early preview of a dance party with Frankenstein's Monster!

Halloween lighting decor is easier and spookier than ever with the new WindowsFX Plus Projector exclusively from The Home Depot. Order yours today from HomeDepot.com, or pick one up at your local Home Depot store. While Home Depot has some of the same categories as other retailers, they don't have the same products - and that's a big reason why it's always worth checking out for seasonal decor. Now, should I go back for that 12-foot inflatable Pumpkin King...
