It's been more than eight years since my wife and I first became parents, and despite writing about gaming often, it wasn't until this year that I finally got to start spending some real time blowing up some pixels again. I upgraded from the Xbox 360 (which I still have) to the Xbox One S, promptly jumping right back into the kind of military-themed action I used to enjoy. After all, when it comes to fall, that means Call of Duty Season is open, but when I bought my system it came with Battlefield 1. Thing is, it's difficult to blow stuff up good when there's two little girls and a wife sleeping upstairs, and that means headphones. For the task at hand, I've got the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Surround Sound Gaming Headset.

The 2017 Holiday Gifting Season is upon us, and this year my friends at Best Buy have unwrapped their biggest and best family-centric Gift Guide ever! MORE TECH. MORE TOYS. That's the mantra this year as Best Buy brings the Top Toys of 2017 into their stores (and online) to give families a wide selection that ranges from classics to state-of-the-art. The Best Buy Toy Gift Guide recently arrived in the mail here at Rock Father™ HQ, and with that I'm showcasing a few items hand-picked by yours truly (with help from The Rock Daughters™)
Writing about consumer products is a large part of what I do here at THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine. My opinions are always 100% honest and straightforward, and when something isn't right - I let people know about it. Whether I receive free product for review or pay for it myself, the standards are the same because bad products hurt consumers. I don't like seeing people being taken advantage of, and I'm certainly not going to put up with that myself. American families work hard for their money, and my wife and I are a prime example of that. What's very concerning is how short a lifespan many of our high-dollar purchases have, and frankly, I'm tired of being fleeced. Today I'm going to tell you about the worst purchase I've made in the last year or so - a heavily-advertised (remember those commercials with Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell?) Samsung Activewash Washer and Dryer Pair from Best Buy. Our "new" washer and dryer are essentially junk - products whose performance has defeated the reason they were purchased in the first place. It started with that infamous Samsung recall...

Since the beginning, Fisher-Price has led the charge in getting kids started right with great toys that teach important skills -- always evolving with the times, making sure that their latest offerings have been able to provide the tools that kids and parents are looking for. With STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) being so important, the new Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-pillar is an exciting new toy recommended for kids ages 3-6, and available now at Best Buy. Moving beyond the simple ABCs and 123s, the Code-a-pillar encourages little ones to practice critical thinking, problem solving, sequencing and planning - all in an easy-to-use, vibrant toy that's a lot of fun.

I do a lot of photography, and with much of it featured here at THE ROCK FATHER Magazine and on Instagram, one of the questions that I'm most-asked is "What App are you using?" Most of the time, I'm not using an "app" at all - but using Adobe Photoshop right here on my desktop PC. Truth is, I've been a loyal user of Adobe products for over 15 years, and now with the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan from Best Buy, I really can take the power of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom anywhere - right here on my office PC, or as an App on my iOS devices. For the Photo Enthusiast on your holiday gift list, you can help them take their best shot and make it even better with the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan - a featured pick in my 2015 Holiday Wish Guide!
This October, there's something new and strange that's emerged - eagerly awaiting the chance to lurk in your home... especially, your child's bedroom. Chip the Robot and Zeke the Martian are joining Jax the Dreadful and Scarlett the Frightful as the Horribles - a new line of Crane Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifiers that are available exclusively at Best Buy. For families looking for something more fun (and a little more spooky) than a traditional humidifier, these adorable character-shaped units each have a 1 gallon capacity to handle humidification for up to 250 sq. ft. - providing ultrasonic cool mist to reduce cold symptoms and nasal congestion for easy breathing. Each member of the Horribles also features Clean Control antimicrobial technology to ensure safe, clean operation. The Horribles by Crane USA are today's entry into 31 Days of Halloween, right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine!
