Craftsman CrewTHE ROCK FATHER has partnered with Sears as a paid member of the Craftsman Crew. Are you #MADEtoRACE?

As a grownup, one thing I really wish I had the skill to do is fix up some old cars and take them out for a little old-school racing action. The only engine that I ever personally rebuilt was one for a go-kart, and I did that back in high school. I wish I'd learned more years back, but one thing I know for sure is that it's not only vehicles that can be "Made to Race," but people as well. Looking back, I'm fairly confident that I was #MADEtoRACE from the get-go - circa 1976. Just look at that little Renault Racing suit...

THE ROCK FATHER™ is a "Be Your Own Jack" Brand Ambassador for Hungry Jack. All opinions are that of James Zahn, because he is his own Jack.

Back in June, I shared with you my experience with Hungry Jack Racing, fueling-up with a great breakfast before the JTG Daugherty Racing Team took to the track. Back at home, it's always worth remembering that breakfast is the most important meal of the day - a chance to fuel-up for whatever adventures that the morning might bring. Here at Rock Father HQ, one new element of our breakfast routine just so happens to be a fresh spin on The Rock Daughters' favorite thing to eat in the morning: Pancakes. My friends at Hungry Jack have just released their all-new Complete Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix with 10 Grams of Protein! A complete mix (just add water!) - in addition to being packed with protein, it also has six vitamins + iron, and is a great source of calcium. I feel a Pancake-ism coming on...

THE ROCK FATHER has participated in a Blog Blast Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Reebok. He received a gift card as well as a promotional item as a thank you.

It's official: This week is "Back-to-School" here at Rock Father HQ... for Addie. While she'll be starting First Grade, little sister won't start Preschool for another week - our district starting at the later end of things from what we've seen. In wrapping-up our Back-to-School shopping, the final piece of the puzzle is an important one - fresh gym shoes for both girls. With the Reebok Kids Twistform shoes on-sale* at Finish Line, The Rock Daughters and I made a special trip to check 'em out and get properly-sized to start the school year off right!

Best Buy Back to SchoolAdvertorial: THE ROCK FATHER has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

We're right in the heart of Back-to-School season, and if you haven't thought of it already, now is the prime time to be thinking about memory for all those devices that the kids will be using this year. Whether it's a memory card or a portable drive, going into a PC or laptop, a tablet or smartphone - SanDisk has the solution, and my friends at Best Buy have the selection. And for capturing some Back-to-School memories, SanDisk has the storage you'll need for your DSLR or GoPro, too (I just picked up a couple of SD cards for that very purpose). From 4GB to 200GB, there's a portable solution that's just right. Here's some highlights...

Made to Matter: Handpicked by TargetTHE ROCK FATHER has partnered with Life of Dad and KIND Snacks for this promotion. Why? Because he likes to work with people that rock, and they both do.

While our family has things pretty good, one thing we tend to lack on is outdoor adventure time as a complete unit of four. Scheduling is the main issue, between my wife's career and my work (which has changed a bit to where I'm a work-at-home-dad about 80% of the time), the The Rock Daughters™' school and now summer activities. There is always something going on, and while we have a pretty great life, there's a lot of adventures that tend to take place as a unit of three - with my wife and I flip-flopping the "parent at the helm" duties. The biggest challenge of every adventure is simply getting all four of us together at once and without something that "has to be done." That's why I was thrilled to partner with Life of Dad and KIND Snacks on their #KINDMilesMatter campaign - an effort to spend some family time logging some miles on foot, with the folks at KIND donating a box of snacks per mile for an organization of our choosing. Thing is, even here my schedule jammed me up. We were supposed to log miles between June 20 and July 6, and guess what? I was traveling for work for the entire first week of that (a rarity to be gone so long in one run), but it had to be done.
