We're approaching the home stretch as we move toward Christmas 2015, and that means it's time to stream some Holiday Movies and Specials on Netflix. It's seems like this year is a little light when it comes to brand-new Xmas content, but one of the biggest and best is a Netflix Original Special, and that's the Sofia Coppola-directed A VERY MURRAY CHRISTMAS. In the spirit of the 12 Days of Christmas (and as a Netflix #StreamTeam Member) I've picked out 12 Gifts of Netflix - a dozen seasonally-appropriate movies, specials and episodes for various members of the family to enjoy. Some are for the kids - some are grownups-only, and others can be enjoyed with the whole family. To spread a little cheer as well, I've got a flash giveaway included where one (1) lucky reader will receive six months of Netflix!
Last year, WWE Studios took a top rope leap into the Holiday Entertainment game with the release of JINGLE ALL THE WAY 2 - a film that I was invited up to Vancouver to cover on-set. This year, they've once again partnered with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment for another dose of Holiday Cheer - SANTA's LITTLE HELPER, starring WWE Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin, WWE Diva Paige and AnnaLynne McCord. To celebrate the season, THE ROCK FATHER Magazine is throwing down another Holiday Wish Guide Giveaway to get one lucky reader hooked up with a copy of this new Holiday Film!
Last year, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and WWE Studios got into the "Holiday Cheer" game with the release of JINGLE ALL THE WAY 2, which I covered extensively. Campy as some of them may be, I really love holiday movies, so when word arrived that WWE & Fox had another one in the pipeline, my jingle bells started ring ding dingin'. SANTA'S LITTLE HELPER arrives on DVD and Digital HD™ on Tuesday, November 17, with viewers invited to "Ho-ho-hold on tight for holiday hijinks" in the new family comedy starring WWE® Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin®, WWE Diva Paige™ and AnnaLynne McCord (DALLAS, NIP/TUCK).
This one is not for the kids, folks. Or, maybe it is (if they've been naughty!), as I've often mentioned that more children should know the legend of the Krampus. Perhaps it's because of my own German roots, but I do love the Krampus - the opposite of Santa Claus, you could say - a creature that punishes the naughty kids instead of rewarding the good ones. My wife does not share my love of the Krampus, so when THE HIPWADERS' new CD single (yes, those still exist) arrived with "El Chupacabra" and "der Krampus," I was giddy. Heck, even THE AQUABATS! have squared off against the legendary monster, so when news came down that Legendary Pictures was letting TRICK 'R TREAT director Michael Dougherty make a big-screen KRAMPUS adventure, I was totally on-board. Now the trailer is here, and what a sight to behold... the perfect marriage of two of my favorite things - Halloween and Xmas. Check out the trailer below, and pre-order your tickets now via Fandango!
When it comes to holiday movies, its no secret that I have a real soft spot for them. One of the greatest is also very much a "Chicago" movie, and one written by a local icon - the late John Hughes. HOME ALONE turns 25 this year, and the folks at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment are releasing a collection that I'm officially adding to my 2015 Holiday Wish Guide here on THE ROCK FATHER - the HOME ALONE 25th Anniversary Ultimate Collection! This new set features all five films in the HOME ALONE franchise, along with some cool collectibles that come packed-in a paint can.
According to star Seth Rogen, THE NIGHT BEFORE is a movie that "was made by Jews about Christmas and opens on Thanksgiving." That's completely accurate, and Columbia/Sony Pictures' forthcoming Xmas comedy marks the first time that I've kicked-off a Holiday Movie Season by featuring a film that's completely not family-friendly. In fact, unless you work somewhere really cool, the just-released red-band trailer is probably not even safe for your place of employment. Funny enough, Rogen's church scene is pretty close to my own visits to a house of worship... minus the Star of David sweater.
