When I was out in Los Angeles this week, some news hit my phone that was at the same instance, both exciting and disturbing. The folks at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment had issued a press release informing writers that what is arguably both the greatest Christmas film of all-time and the greatest Arnold Schwarzenegger film of all-time is getting a sequel. JINGLE ALL THE WAY 2, a follow-up to the 1996 classic is headed our way for Christmas 2014, and the news came courtesy of an announcement that also includes the fourth installment of the MARINE franchise in partnership with WWE Studios.
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Every time I think about the 80s, I think about Eternia. Then I get pissed off when I think about the fact that most of my childhood possessions were sold off in the wake of my parents' divorce. My large, and exceptionally well-kept collections of STAR WARS, G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS, and yes, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE toys all entered the secondary market around 1988, and have no doubt put money in the hands of numerous toy dealers over the past two decades. Sorry to start this post on a "downer" note, but even though I was about 12 and had begun to "grow out of" certain things, I was never afforded the luxury of having my stuff boxed up and stashed in an attic for me to rediscover as an adult. I'll never get over that, but I have the memories to share with my daughters, and the DVD collections to relive a little of that magic. During the holiday season HE-MAN AND SHE-RA: A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL is a part of that.
Having been originally released back in 2005, MY LITTLE PONY: A VERY MINTY CHRISTMAS is a movie that my wife and I missed the first time around - coming long after our own childhood, but about four years prior to us becoming parents ourselves. Released on DVD by Shout! Factory Kids for 2013 as part of their MY LITTLE PONY "Classic Movies" Collection, I sat down to watch it with my four-year-old daughter, and today it makes my annual 25 Days of Xmas countdown here on The Rock Father.
It's the start of a new week, and today I'm kicking things off with another Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway here on The Rock Father. From the folks at Cinedigm/New Kideo comes THE HIVE: A VERY BUZZBEE CHRISTMAS, a new collection of 10 episodes of this cute series that airs daily on Disney Junior. Teaching Holiday Tradition, Compassion, and Teamwork to preschoolers, THE HIVE is pretty buzzed-about, and one (1) lucky reader will score a copy on DVD. Check out the details, and enter for your chance to win below...
It's almost the season to be jolly, and my friends at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment are gearing up to release their latest seasonal film, HOME ALONE: THE HOLIDAY HEIST. The fifth installment of the HOME ALONE franchise first appeared last year as an ABC Family Movie Event, and this year it comes home on October 29th, arriving on DVD just in time for the holidays. FoxConnect has teamed-up with The Rock Father to get two lucky readers hooked up with copies of the new DVD, and you can find your chance below. Ho Ho Ho!
