When it comes to the breakout toys of 2017, Fidget Spinners are serious business. What started as one thing expanded into an entire category of Fidgets - divisive as to whether they're toys, tools or just a fad that will eventually go the way of the Pog. For now, they're still hot, and the folks at Zuru Toys have some of the highest-quality offerings out there, and they recently sent us some for review. Bringing iconic superheroes into the mix, they've licensed characters from DC Comics and Marvel, bringing them together for a colorful collection of Fidget Spinners and Fidget Cubes - the original Fidget Cubes as developed by Antsy Labs!

Stocking Stuffer: Kubo and the Two Strings

Laika's Kubo and the Two Strings is another beautiful film from the studio, and one that The Rock Daughters were immediately captivated by - simply by seeing the first trailer on the big screen almost a year ago. Released to rave reviews from audiences and critics alike, the film is home for the holidays on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, and makes its way into my Holiday Wish Guide as a great Stocking Stuffer!

Holiday Wish Guide: World's Smallest Toys

Have you ever wondered why so many Super Villains set out to making a "Shrinking Ray?" The reason is simple - because it's fun! Look at the movie Ant-Man for example - remember when we found out that the military tank that was on Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) keychain was actually a full-size tank that had been shrunk? Ponder the possibilities while thinking of World's Smallest, a new line of collectible toys (and suspiciously, key chains) by the folks at Super Impulse. They're working (to an extent) replicas (or are they?) of the real thing, now small enough that you can have toys for your toys. World's Smallest are a featured Stocking Stuffer in my 2016 Holiday Wish Guide here on THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine!

Toy Review: Whiffer Sniffers Backpack Clips

If you're old enough to remember the scratch-n-sniff craze of the 1980s, then you'll fully understand the appeal of Whiffer Sniffers, a line of collectible plush backpack clips, huggable plush and yes, stickers. On the market for the past year or so, these scented characters each have a distinctive personality and smell, and The Rock Daughters™ have amassing a nice little assortment of them, with several clipped to their backpacks.

Back in the 1980s, Galoob Toys' Micro Machines first hit the scene and became a massive success for a number of years, eventually fading a bit before the small, West Coast toymaker was absorbed by the large, East Coast-based Hasbro. Along the way, Hasbro also acquired TONKA, since licensed out to Funrise Toys, current manufacturers of the iconic yellow vehicles and their many spinoffs. The reason why these acquisitions and licensing deals are important to this story is that the newly-released TONKA Tinys seem to carry a lot of DNA from all of these companies' past endeavors. While there have been plenty of Micro Machines copycats over the past three decades, none have felt as close to the real deal as these new Tinys from TONKA, and that's a pretty cool thing as nostalgia plays so heavily into what parents of today are introducing to their own kids. One decidedly modern spin, however, is that TONKA Tinys are essentially "Blind Boxed," and they tap into the very now trend of micro collectibles.
