I've mentioned Jim Henson’s EMMET OTTER’S JUG-BAND CHRISTMAS many times in the past, if only because it's one of my all-time favorite holiday specials - one that I watched on HBO more times than I could count as a child. Now comes news that it's coming back to DVD on October 10 (pre-order via Amazon) from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment as a 40th Anniversary Edition, fully-remastered for a new generation.

Another one of my childhood favorites is coming back, as Disney has begun production on a reimagined "Muppet Babies" television series, which chronicles the playroom antics of the beloved Kermit the Frog, Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal and Miss Nanny. A co-production between Disney Junior, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media's (DCPI) Content & Media group, and The Muppets Studio, the CG-animated series is slated to debut on Disney Junior in early 2018.

On March 1 at 8pm ET/PT on ABC, JACK WHITE & WILLIE NELSON will pay a visit to THE MUPPETS in the special one-hour, two-episode First Season Finale. With more drama between Miss Piggy and Kermit following a stint in the hospital, the duo reevaluates their relationship (as they do quite often), but this time Kermit turns to the former WHITE STRIPES frontman for some much-needed help and advice. Check out the teaser poster below.

When Kermit the Frog tweeted that he'd asked DR. TEETH AND THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM for a new song to release on Christmas Day, he noted that in "typical fashion, it's a day late." So, in typical Rock Father fashion, I'm sharing it here 16 days late(r). The Electric Mayhem's cover of Paul Simon's "Kodachrome" is an appropriate song for the Instagram generation - one in which clear digital photos are regularly filtered to achieve that vintage look. While ABC's THE MUPPETS is on hiatus until February, perhaps we'll see more rock from Dr. Teeth, Floyd Pepper, Animal, Janice, Zoot and Lips at some point in the near future.

It's odd for a new toy announcement to land in my inbox at 11:15 on a Friday night, but the folks at Diamond Select Toys hit me with a new product listing tonight that had a few things to pique my interest. The main one, however is the reveal of Muppets Minimates Series 2, set for release in the summer of 2016. Thing is, I somehow missed the announcement that there was a Series 1 slated for spring... or the fact that Muppets Action Figures should be arriving around May. Yes, ABC's MUPPETS is a growing hit at this point, but Kermit and the gang are timeless - and not since the fabled Palisades Toys line of the early 2000's (mine currently being played with by The Rock Daughters) has there been this much Muppets excitement in toy form.

I've seen the first two episodes of ABC's THE MUPPETS, and they're pretty fantastic. While the series doesn't make its official debut until next week, many already know that Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have been on the outs - but now comes word that they've been seen together again (again). Seems Piggy's been tipping off the TMZ crowd, and it's all coming just prior to the 67th Emmy Awards - airing Sunday, September 20th, live on FOX... just two days prior to THE MUPPETS premieres on ABC. In a new video just-posted by The Television Academy, Piggy and Kermit meet Viola Davis (HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, though I'm looking forward to SUICIDE SQUAD) and Julie Bowen (MODERN FAMILY), while Joel McHale (THE SOUP) shows up to throw down a little automotive knowledge. Take a look...
