James Zahn

James Zahn is not a journalist, nor a blogger, though he may be credited as such by others, or even accept the title... depending on the circumstance.  Instead, he considers himself largely to be an "entertainment and lifestyle writer," bringing 25+ years of experience in the entertainment and publishing industries into the family realm as THE ROCK FATHER™.

As a media personality, commentator, adventurer and raconteur, James now finds himself raising a pair young girls - The Rock Daughters™ - along with his wife from their Illinois home.

He is a member of The Toy Insider Parent Advisory Board, a writer for the Netflix #StreamTeam, and serves as a Brand Ambassador and spokesperson for several Globally-recognized pop culture and lifestyle brands in addition to consulting for a number of toy manufacturers. Current special projects include promotional campaigns for PJ Masks (eOne/Disney Junior) and Beat Bugs (Netflix). 

Creatively, James has directed/edited music videos, lyric videos, and album trailers for bands such as FEAR FACTORY, has appeared as an actor in feature films and commercials, written comic books, and performed in bands. He currently serves as an artist manager and video director for Napalm Records' PRODUCT OF HATE.

James and/or his work have been featured in/on CNN, NBC, ABC, WGN, G4, The Chicago Tribune, BusinessWire, Babble, Fangoria, Starlog and more. He's appeared as a music expert on CNN's AC360 alongside Anderson Cooper, and has been interviewed by Larry King. In the past he served as a writer for  Fandango Family and PBS KIDS, penned articles for Sprout and PopSugar, and was a contributor to Chicago Parent.

It was about a year and a half ago when Hasbro laid out their public plans to build a "cross-property interconnected onscreen universe featuring the brands G.I. JoeMicronautsVisionariesM.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) and ROM." In the comic world, IDW has already brought this to life with REVOLUTION, a crossover comic that also throws TRANSFORMERS into the mix, and at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, fans will be able to purchase the first toys based on the series in a massive "Mega-Set." This is right up my alley...

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un and Mike Tyson came together to form a band? No? Me neither, but the answer to the question that no one asked has been answered with NUCLEAR POWER TRIO! Featuring President Trump slappin' the bass with Supreme Leader Jong-un on guitar and Tyson punching the skins, their debut music video is out, and it's come with a message: "It's a song to promote world peace!" It just might be the weirdest thing you see today...

When you think about racing, you might not automatically think of "street racing." Likewise, when you hear "street racing," the term probably conjures images of the Need for Speed or The Fast and The Furious - with groups of racers skirting the boundaries of law while pushing their souped-up rides to new limits. This summer, the INDIANA JONES series is coming back to theaters for a special run at Marcus Theatres from August 6-30, 2017. Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will screen each screen for one-week each on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday - with tickets just five bucks! This week is a unique one in that I'm gearing up for a full seven days of travel - the longest stretch that I've ever been away from home since becoming "The Rock Father." That means it's the longest I've been away from my wife and our girls, but it will be worth it since what I'm doing is part of the greater good - a mix of work and play that directly relates to having fun as a family, and spreading that goodness throughout the virtual pages of The Rock Father™ Magazine.
