James Zahn is not a journalist, nor a blogger, though he may be credited as such by others, or even accept the title... depending on the circumstance. Instead, he considers himself largely to be an "entertainment and lifestyle writer," bringing 25+ years of experience in the entertainment and publishing industries into the family realm as THE ROCK FATHER™.
As a media personality, commentator, adventurer and raconteur, James now finds himself raising a pair young girls - The Rock Daughters™ - along with his wife from their Illinois home.
He is a member of The Toy Insider Parent Advisory Board, a writer for the Netflix #StreamTeam, and serves as a Brand Ambassador and spokesperson for several Globally-recognized pop culture and lifestyle brands in addition to consulting for a number of toy manufacturers. Current special projects include promotional campaigns for PJ Masks (eOne/Disney Junior) and Beat Bugs (Netflix).
Creatively, James has directed/edited music videos, lyric videos, and album trailers for bands such as FEAR FACTORY, has appeared as an actor in feature films and commercials, written comic books, and performed in bands. He currently serves as an artist manager and video director for Napalm Records' PRODUCT OF HATE.
James and/or his work have been featured in/on CNN, NBC, ABC, WGN, G4, The Chicago Tribune, BusinessWire, Babble, Fangoria, Starlog and more. 2017 marks the debut of HASCON - Hasbro’s first-ever family convention that’s taking place on September 8-10 at the Rhode Island Convention Center and Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, RI. With the toymaker highlighting their own brands for the very first time in a convention atmosphere, many have been wondering what that will entail, in addition to how some of their licensed properties (Star Wars/Marvel) would be represented. In short, this event is looking to be massive. Heading into the weekend, Hasbro sent over the full details on their brand experience activities for Transformers, My Little Pony, Nerf, Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, G.I. At the Chicago Toy & Game Fair the past few years, there's been an organization present that makes incredibly detailed cardboard structures. In essence, they're simply cardboard box forts, but with the type of ingenuity employed by whoever's running Arby's social networks (seriously, they might have "the meats," but they also have "the papercraft"). One might wonder what surprises lurk inside these cardboard villages, and with that in mind DAVE MADE A MAZE might provide a possible answer. Last year at Blogger Bash in New York City, I got an early look at Sentiments' first Disney Pets Collection - a series of dog beds and bowls based around the iconic look of Mickey Mouse. Now comes word that the line was a success, and with that they're expanding line - and with Spider-Man: Homecoming hitting theaters this month, it's appropriate that their first foray into the Marvel realm is a collection aimed solely at canine fans of a certain NYC-based web-slinger.
