Star Wars-inspired shoes are hardly a new thing. In fact, my closet currently houses Star Wars-themed shoes from both Vans and Crocs. Over the years, other players have been in the game as well, with brands like Adidas and Sketchers in the mix, but until now the folks at SPERRY have been patiently awaiting their trip to a galaxy far, far away. Officially announced this week, STAR WARS x SPERRY is a celebration of the 40th Anniversary of 1977's STAR WARS (aka STAR WARS: EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE), with a collection of five all-new pairs of shoes that take specific inspiration from the film that started it all. These will be available beginning August 10, exclusively from Sperry...

THE ROCK FATHER has participated in a Blog Blast Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Reebok. He received a gift card as well as a promotional item as a thank you.

It's official: This week is "Back-to-School" here at Rock Father HQ... for Addie. While she'll be starting First Grade, little sister won't start Preschool for another week - our district starting at the later end of things from what we've seen. In wrapping-up our Back-to-School shopping, the final piece of the puzzle is an important one - fresh gym shoes for both girls. With the Reebok Kids Twistform shoes on-sale* at Finish Line, The Rock Daughters and I made a special trip to check 'em out and get properly-sized to start the school year off right!

I love a lot of different shoes, by VANS are hands-down my favorite brand, period. Add into the mix their collaborative efforts with bands (SLAYER, METALLICA, KISS, IRON MAIDEN, etc.) and brands (STAR WARS, DISNEY) and it's stuff-I-love overload. Coming off the heat of their VANS x STAR WARS Collection (a line that I have a couple different pairs of), VANS x Disney brings forth some new shoes for the whole family, and they're loaded with characters that generations have known and loved - Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie, Pluto and more. There's accessories, too (I almost just bought some Donald socks), and to celebrate the release, Mickey himself just made an appearance at the Vans US Open of Surfing.
