Whether you believe that this last hurrah really is the end... or that KISS has become bigger than its members and will live on with other performers wearing the iconic makeup, 2019 is going to be an important year for the band as KISS (in their current form) will embark on their final tour ever. After an epic 45 year career, KISS made the initial announcement last month on NBC’s America’s Got Talent and today comes news with the first set of dates and cities in North America, produced by Live Nation. Check out the details and tour trailer below!
Craft sodas are big business, and when it comes new exploring new opportunities that rock, Gene Simmons is there. The serial entrepreneur, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and co-founder of KISS, America's Number One Gold Record Award-Winning Group of all time (RIAA), has announced the launch of a premium soda line called Money Bag™ Sodas. They're hitting retail this month in cooperation with Niagara Falls, New York-based Rock Steady Sodas Inc. (a subsidiary of Johnnie Ryan Bottling Company). The Money Bag Sodas line includes cola, diet cola, root beer and ginger ale, and the makers promise that additional flavors are in the works, along with a line of premium fountain sodas.
Ready for some books that rock? powerHouse Books has announced a new, ongoing collaboration with SIMMONS BOOKS, the imprint from KISS' Gene Simmons. The first title will arrive this August, and it's one that I'm very interested in. 27:THE LEGEND AND MYTHOLOGY OF THE 27 CLUB is the inaugural release of the new series, and it features Simmons "no-BS take on the myth, and the actual people, that make up the “27 club”—the ground-breaking musicians, artists, and celebrities who died at the age of twenty-seven, frozen in the collective consciousness at the zenith of their creative output." Being so involved in music myself at a young age, I always wondered if I would make it past 27 - if only because the number became so haunting. While I made it, one of my friends became a member of the 27 club, though I don't know if he'll be mentioned in the book.
After attending Wizard World events for nearly two decades, including a couple as a creator/guest myself, I've always wondered why they didn't formally start including music into their mix. After all, there's been many artists that have appeared at their events, including Static-X, Twiztid and Insane Clown Posse - all promoting comic titles. Last year, Wizard World Music tested the waters for bigger things, with performances by Grimes and The Pretty Reckless, and today comes news that Wizard World Touring has launched in partnership with veteran music and technology executive Nick Turner. The new unit "will bring vibrant live entertainment to Wizard World shows, building on the Wizard’s initiative to create an atmosphere of a weekend festival at every Wizard World show." First up: a club tour by KISS frontman (and no stranger to comics) Gene Simmons, complete with appearances at five Wizard World Comic Con events.
I still remember the first time I saw KISS - it was on television, probably around 1980 or so, and I was at my cousin's house. I thought they were bizarre - but I was only four or so, and my mastery of The Force knowledge of rock was still a long way off. Decades later, KISS still puts on a Hell of a show, and on August 26th a new concert film is bringing them back into our homes with the Eagle Rock Entertainment release of KISS ROCKS VEGAS - available in several configurations, including the audio-only on vinyl, digital and CD. Today comes an extended clip of "Rock and Roll All Nite" - check it out!
Ever since I first previewed Scooby-Doo! & KISS: Rock & Roll Mystery back in April, I've been waiting for the chance to get someone hooked-up with a copy. That time is now, as Warner Bros. and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine are bringing you the best (because you wanted the best, right?) and giving readers a chance to score this all-new animated movie on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD with UltraViolet Combo Pack. KISS serves-up six classic songs for the film, along with one newly-recorded song just for Scooby-Doo! Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer are voicing themselves, while other guest stars include Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Darius Rucker and more. Check out the details...
