Quantcast

There's a rumor setting the 'net on fire right now that may have some truth to it, if only because it was rumored at least once before... and now the time could be right. Film industry site The Tracking Board is reporting that Mattel is moving ahead with plans for a live-action film based on their 1988 DINO-RIDERS toys. According to Tracking Board, DINO-RIDERS is in development, with Alissa Phillips (MONEYBALL) and Stephen L’Heureux (SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR) producing for Solipsist Films. The basic gist of the original toys and animated series was about a war (a la TRANSFORMERS) between various factions of DINO-RIDERS - humans that came to Earth from other planets and turned Dinosaurs into sci-fi, weapon-wearing prehistoric warriors.

The Boys On the Hood are Always Hard...

On December 23rd, ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS: THE ROAD CHIP rolls into theaters with a new adventure from director Walt Becker (National Lampoon's VAN WILDER) and writers Randi Mayem (TOOTH FAIRY) and Adam Sztykiel (DUE DATE). "Through a series of misunderstandings, Alvin, Simon and Theodore come to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in New York City…and dump them." That leads The Chipmunks to embark on a road trip to stop the proposal, and possibly prevent them from losing Dave and gaining a terrible stepbrother. This week a new poster for the film has arrived, complete with a play on the classic Eazy-E/N.W.A. classic, "Boyz-n-the-Hood."

THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE has a teaser trailer...

THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE has a trailer. It's actually been a little while since I've been so underwhelmed by a simple preview, but this first taste left me with no desire to see the film whatsoever. When ANGRY BIRDS was first announced, I wondered if a 2016 release date would be well beyond the shelf life - because after all, this is a movie based off of an App. I still wonder, and I like the occasional round of ANGRY BIRDS, ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS or ANGRY BIRDS TRANSFORMERS when the mood strikes. But this... despite a great cast of talent... is just, blah. Is THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE May 2016's first flop?

On July 31st, Shout! Factory will release THE SEVENTH DWARF in a limited theatrical engagement in New York and L.A., prior to a mass home video release on August 18th. The English-language version of last year's German film, Der 7bte Zwerg. Over the past few weeks, a variety of character profiles and clips have been rolling out for the film, but since none have been featured yet here on THE ROCK FATHER, tonight I'm serving up the trailer and a few clips in one handy playlist. There's some familiar elements at play here, with Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and of course, the seven dwarfs making an appearance. But the villain, Dellamorta, seems to have been a bit FROZEN-inspired. Peyton List (Disney's JESSIE and upcoming BUNK'D) and comic Norm McDonald top the voice cast. Take a peek...
