Sometimes, you just need the perfect beer to enjoy on a crisp fall night. If you choose your drinks based on the time of year, you're not alone; eighty-four percent of craft beer drinkers like to choose their beer depending on the season. Of course, not everyone likes every type of fall beer, specifically when it comes to pumpkin beers. Most people fall into one of two camps with pumpkin beer: love it, or hate it. For those of us in the latter group, here are three other types of beers to try this fall.
On November 2, Danny Weinkauf is back with his Red Pants Band to deliver a fourth album of family-friendly jams when Inside I Shine hits the streets. The familiar bassist of They Might Be Giants recently issued a new single off the record, and it's one I agree with wholeheartedly. "Pumpkins (Are My Favorite Fruit)" holds a lot of appeal for yours truly (pictured top), an October baby that was born into the crisp autumn air of America's #1 pumpkin-growing state, The Land of absurd property taxes, massive corruption and other baffling facts Lincoln, Illinois. Featuring Tina Kenny Jones on vocals and horns with Steve Plesnarski on drums, check out this new ode to the greatness of the gourd below!
After making some waves with audiences this summer, Sony Pictures' THE EMOJI MOVIE has come home on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD. While I'll post some more detailed thoughts in a formal review of the in-home release next week, suffice to say that The Rock Daughters loved it (we even had a themed birthday party back in August), and the appeal is lasting - just like the Emojis that inspired the film. For families looking to put an Emoji spin on Halloween, now you can with FREE PRINTABLES including a collection of EMOJI MOVIE Pumpkin Carving Patterns! Gene, Hi-5, Jailbreak, Poop and Smiler are all here, ready to add a friendly glow to your favorite gourds!
As many of you are no doubt aware, I have a serious pumpkin obsession. An October child raised in Northern Illinois (#1 grower of pumpkins), for me "Fall" begins on August 15 (part of The Rock Father™ Seasonal Calendar). With that comes a real affection for seasonal beers, and fall brings a host of flavors, but my favorites are always those that are pumpkin-infused. Today, I received some news out of Oregon - that a fresh batch of ROGUE Pumpkin Patch Ale has been produced. A perfect accompaniment to pumpkin spice cookies, pumpkin lattés, pumpkin bread, pumpkin butter and just about everything pumpkin, one big factor with ROGUE is that they grow their own pumpkins and release their beer a little later than some. Here's how they explain it...
It's not even summer yet, and I'm already thinking of the most glorious season of the year... Fall. As an unabashed fan of all things Pumpkin and Pumpkin Spice (when done well), I have high hopes for one of 2016's newest offerings, Pumpkin Spice Cheerios. Revealed via Bloomberg, it's a wonder that General Mills has waited this long to bring some pumpkin-y goodness to their famous oats since they already offer a ton of Pumpkin flavors throughout their other brands. While there's no release date announced just yet, I'd bet we'll start seeing Pumpkin Spice Cheerios on shelves (and pallet stacks, endcaps and other gloriously massive displays) right around the same time that the General Mills Monsters crawl out of their crypt... usually August/September.
If I could worship at The Altar of The Great Pumpkin, I probably would... right alongside young Linus van Pelt. The story of Linus and his lonely night awaiting the arrival of The Great Pumpkin has been delighting generations in IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN, and for the PEANUTS' 65th Anniversary, there's a lot of ways to bring some of that magic to life in new ways this Halloween (and Harvest) season. From cool items from Oriental Trading to THE PEANUTS MOVIE events at real-life pumpkin patches, today's entry into my annual 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine is all about Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and Lucy, and the whole PEANUTS gang.
