Sure, it's mid-August, but that means we're about to enter my favorite season of them all... Fall. With that comes Halloween, and for the past few years the folks at Disney Parks have served-up some stellar seasonal offerings, including a tradition in which a spooktacular new Droid from their ever-growing Droid Factory line would hit the streets. For 2018, R4-BOO18 is the latest Astromech to represent the Halloween season, inspired by candy corn and looking to spread some sweets to Cloud City or your city. Problem is, ShopDisney sold out almost immediately. While my fingers are crossed that they'll restock their supply, your best bet on this one might be to visit a Disney Park in hopes of grabbing one of these in-person!
Avengers: Infinity War is the biggest superhero spectacle of all-time (see my review), and along with the film comes one of the coolest collections of Marvel merch in recent memory. At the recent #InfinityWarEvent in Los Angeles coinciding with the World Premiere of Marvel Studios' 19th film, I had a chance to take a look at the full line inside a private showroom at Disney Consumer Products & Interactive. But what fun is just looking? Thanks to my partners at Disney, Entertainment Earth, Hasbro and others, The Rock Daughters™ and I have amassed quite a collection. After all, even Thanos is a bit of a collector himself, tough he's more into Infinity Stones than I. Here's a look at some of the coolest items out there!
I think most parents have probably tried their hand at making "Mickey Mouse Pancakes" at some point, and if you're like me - the results have varied greatly. Overall, it's not really the end result that's important, but how you get there - and that's what caught my eye about the new Disney Eats collection. Available now from my affiliates at ShopDisney.com and coming 4/23 to Disney Store, Disney Eats encourages kids and grownups to get cooking together. It's an entire collection of new kitchen items including whisks, mixing bowls and spoons featuring classic Mickey and Minnie - and they come in "big" and "little" sets depending on the size of the cook.
It's always a great time to do some good, and now some of The Avengers are getting in on the action in the real-world. The Walt Disney Company has launched Marvel: The Universe Unites, an epic charity campaign combining the super powers of the cast of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War to help support children’s charities. The week-long event will see stars of the movie team up for a series of #HeroActs and social media challenges to provide funds and raise awareness for charities that support children and families impacted by serious illness. The initiative will culminate the weekend of March 3 when shopDisney.com and Disney Stores in the U.S. will donate 10% of sales of all Marvel products made between March 3-4, 2018 (up to $50,000) to Make-A-Wish to help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
The time has come - the much-anticipated eighteenth film in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe has arrived! Marvel Studios' BLACK PANTHER is now playing in theaters everywhere, and for kids and families looking to bring the Kingdom of Wakanda to life at home, there's no better destination than Disney Store and ShopDisney.com. In addition to a full range of Black Panther toys and apparel from licensees such as Hasbro and Our Universe, they also have some exclusive offerings inspired by the King-turned-Avenger. The crew over at Disney just sent a surprise package to Rock Father HQ that contained a few of them for review - here's some highlights...
One of our favorite product lines is getting bigger. Her Universe has long-been a go-to destination for cool Star Wars gear for women and girls, getting started at a time when availability of fan-centric clothing wasn't as widespread as it is now. The Rock Daughters™ wear it... my wife wears it... and now an even broader set of fans who enjoy Disney, Marvel and Star Wars will be able to get in on the action with the launch of OUR UNIVERSE. Disney made the announcement today that the collaboration with Her Universe and founder Ashley Eckstein will "expand beyond the existing licensed lines of Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars apparel, accessories, and home goods and opens up new categories and opportunities including a new, heroic character-inspired athleisure line for kids and tweens.
