We're in the home stretch of the 2018 holiday season, and that means that gift-givers will soon be hitting the stores in a frenzy. I've long-held that movies are not only the perfect gift - but they're truly the perfect stocking stuffer. They just tend to slip right into the stockings so snuggly - as if a Blu-ray package was intentionally-sized to fit within the traditional staple of seasonal gift holders. But what to get, especially for the action-loving guys on your list this season? Two top choices are both Holiday Wish Guide™ Picks here at The Rock Father™ Magazine: Sony Pictures Venom and Equalizer 2, both available at Walmart!
Marvel Studios' BLACK PANTHER is a film that kicked-off what's been a truly incredible year for the superhero genre, and perhaps the year that we start looking beyond these movies as just "superhero" films, and perhaps something greater. Ryan Coogler's epic has already nabbed three Gold Globe Awards nominations, a dozen for the Critic's Choice and six GRAMMY nods. Will Oscar be next? Magic 8 Ball at Rock Father™ HQ says "likely." Now Marvel Entertainment is looking ahead in celebration with the release of a new "Welcome to Wakanda" featurette. See it below and mark my words... Black Panther is just getting started!
It's been four years since Marvel Fans first experienced Kabam Games' Marvel Contest of Champions, and today the developers throw down the news that they're just getting started. He rides off searching the four corners of The Battlerealm in hope to find his friends and bringing them home. This is only the beginning for what lies in store for Year 5 of Marvel Contest of Champions...
We're just a couple weeks out from Christmas as I write this, and as usual there's some surprising late-season entries hitting stores that could be holiday hits. I'm talking about toys and games, of course - and they're not so much "late" as they are early previews of new things yet to come. From Mattel comes news that they've partnered with Daymond John, Co-Star and Investor on ABC's Shark Tank, to launch a new game: Silicon Valley Startups. With hilarity in mind, this new card game pits "Entrepreneurs" against each other to pitch hysterical startup ideas to "Investors." With all pitch ideas decided through random card draws, players must use their best improvisation skills to win the game. The game is available now at Target (affiliate) with a national retail rollout planned for 2019.
No one deserved the trailer for Avengers: Endgame this week... but in the spirit of giving and the holiday season, Marvel Studios has unleashed the first-look at the previously-untitled Avengers 4 just days after the latest full trailer for Captain Marvel. They say that part of the journey is the end, and that's exactly where the first decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is headed. Get your first taste of what lies ahead...
