This adventure is brought to you by Walmart. THE ROCK FATHER is a Socialstars 2014 #WalmartAuto Ambassador. The Gumout products featured in this story are all available at your local store or at Walmart.com.

When we last checked-in from the garage here at Rock Father HQ, my oldest daughter and I were getting our cars clean after some summer travel that delivered thousands of miles worth of road grime. Now comes prep for Fall (and dare I say it, winter), and now is the prime time to take a look at some basic maintenance - especially for those with older cars, like the 2005 Scion xB that I still rock daily, about 160,000 miles into it's life. One of the most important systems to keep an eye on is the fuel system, and using Gumout All-In-One® Complete Fuel System Cleaner Ethanol Treatment and Friction Modifier is one inexpensive and easy way to improve your car's performance, while cutting down on some of the nasty stuff that can build up in the engine.

Using Gumout All-In-One Complete Fuel System Cleaner

Using one bottle (available in your local Walmart Auto department) at fill-up on a nearly empty tank and preferably at the time of an oil change, takes just seconds. It cleans the valves, fuel injectors, combustion cylinder, piston heads and more - all while conditioning the engine to fight water and ethanol corrosion, and preventing future carbon buildup. The benefits are increased mileage, lower emissions and an extended life for some important parts. There's a lot of science that goes into it, and Gumout has a quick video to give you a better idea...

I just did a cycle on the Scion this past week, and the girls and I did a little additional clean-up and organization (put a Honey-Can-Do Folding Trunk Organizer in), all just ahead of the "official" calendar start of Fall.

But hey, I've been in Pumpkin Spice mode for a good month already.

Look for more car care tips soon, right here on THE ROCK FATHER, and be sure to stock-up on all of your auto care needs at your local Walmart.
