How Every Day Driving Relates to Street Racing...

When you think about racing, you might not automatically think of "street racing." Likewise, when you hear "street racing," the term probably conjures images of the Need for Speed or The Fast and The Furious - with groups of racers skirting the boundaries of law while pushing their souped-up rides to new limits. Off-screen, street racing is a very real thing, and there's a grassroots movement of racers that are on a quest to see just how far they can push their cars - but still have them be entirely street legal. So how does street racing relate to every day driving and running around with your kids? It's all about performance and what's under the hood. Check out the video below...

At the recent Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car event at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, I had a chance to meet up with my friends from Pennzoil Performance to see some street cars in-action, each running the same oil I use in my own car here at Rock Father HQ: Pennzoil Full Synthetic

Ken Thwaits

We spent some with driver Ken Thwaits of Showtime Motorsports, a longtime Chevrolet Camaro enthusiast who was taking to the track in a highly-customized (yet street legal) Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (aka EVO). What you find with street racers (who compete on closed courses like NCM) is that they're constantly updating their vehicles for optimum performance, and Ken's EVO has truly gone through an evolution over the past couple of years - changing in appearance and performance.

Using Pennzoil Platinum® with PurePlus® Technology Full Synthetic motor oil in these cars brings the benefit of cleaner pistons, better fuel economy, horsepower protection, unsurpassed wear protection and excellent performance in extreme temperatures - all benefits that regular drivers like you and I want for our own cars. For older cars like my 2004 Scion xB (which I've recently started restoring), I use the High Mileage option - great for vehicles over 75,000 miles.

The Rock Father vs 1971 Camaro

While Ken was running a Mitsubishi in Kentucky, I did have a chance to hit the track for a ride-along in one of the most famous Camaro's on the circuit - a 1971 edition piloted by driver Brian Finch. It was an absolutely incredible ride, and Brian is one hell of a driver (seriously, look him up on YouTube).

No matter what your ride or oil needs (even more obscure makes, models and oil weights), Pennzoil has exactly what you need to keep on rockin' the road!. See the full assortment at Pennzoil.com
