Now, perhaps you're thinking to yourself, "Hey Rock Father! Didn't you already feature Halloween Grave Digger?" - and you'd actually be right... but not like this.  Last month, I posted news that Mattel was producing a Hot Wheels Monster Jam Halloween Edition Grave Digger monster truck, limited to a run of "up to 5,000 pieces" to be sold exclusively through Feld Motorsports' website. And, if you were looking closely, you may have even seen Grave Digger make a cameo appearance here, but it's only fitting that this glorious monster truck get a proper feature in 31 Days of Halloween, and what better way to do that than to show him in-action at a pumpkin patch?

Over the past two years, my girls have been pretty lucky in that we've seen Disney On Ice four times. Each time the folks at Feld Entertainment bring the tour back through Chicago, it's a different show, and we've seen ROCKIN' EVER AFTER, 100 YEARS OF MAGIC, LET'S CELEBRATE! and now, PRINCESSES & HEROES. While LET'S CELEBRATE! is still holding it's ground as my favorite (the seasonality of it just hits my sweet spot), PRINCESSES & HEROES may well be the most traditional of the bunch in terms of Disney lore, really capturing the imaginations of the younger crowd by bringing to life some familiar scenes from the likes of ALADDIN, SNOW WHITE, BEAUTY & THE BEAST, THE LITTLE MERMAID, THE PRINCESS & THE FROG, SLEEPING BEAUTY, TANGLED and CINDERELLA in a big show. And it is a BIG show.

Halloween 2014Yes, it's still technically summer, but as you may have heard me mention a time or two in the past, when it comes to Fall and/or Halloween, you can never be too early in talking about it - only too late.  With just a hair over two months until the big day, the Halloween news has begun flowing, and tonight I've got details on a cool little item from the Mattel Hot Wheels Monster Jam collection. For the first time ever, there is a Halloween Edition 1:64-scale diecast version of Grave Digger being offered, but it's exclusively available through Feld Motorsports' official Monster Jam Superstore. Check it out below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

The Feld Entertainment productions of Disney On Ice have become quite a tradition for us (I saw my first show back in 1981, which I wrote about here), and now as a Feld Family Ambassador, I'm always happy to help spread the word when they come back through Chicago. Disney On Ice presents Princesses and Heroes skates into United Center (get tix), September 10-14, 2014, bringing to life 10 action-packed scenes that feature a whopping 52 Disney characters for one of the most exciting shows they've ever had! Check out the full details below...

I've seen some "numbers" (ratings and stats) regarding the appeal of Disney Junior's SOFIA THE FIRST, JAKE AND THE NEVER LAND PIRATES and DOC McSTUFFINS over these past few years, but nothing embodies just how big these shows have become more than a crowd of 2,000 kids and grownups singing along to their favorite songs. That was the scene at the Rosemont Theatre outside of Chicago tonight, where the Feld Entertainment production of Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure has settled in for the weekend.
