I'm a big fan of Greenlight Collectibles, particularly their Greenlight Hollywood Series (see my hands-on features here). They've been busy this summer, securing new licenses, and that means there's some new rides in the pipeline, including some that you wouldn't immediately think of - which makes these even more fun. After the recent announcement that they've teamed with Stephen J. Cannell Productions to produce diecast toys based on The Greatest American HeroHunter, Riptide and fan-favorite, The A-Team, today brings a double-dose of news involving new deals with Lionsgate and SONY Pictures Television.

As of this writing, Paramount Pictures' big-screen BAYWATCH has just hit theaters for Memorial Day weekend, ushering in summer with a new spin on the syndicated TV favorite. With Dwayne Johnson stepping into David Hasselhoff's iconic trunks as lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, a new generation is getting a taste of slow-mo beach running as Mitch and the crew (which includes Jon Bass as Ronnie, Alexandra Daddario as Summer, Zac Efron as Matt Brody, Kelly Rohrbach as CJ Parker, and Ilfenesh Hadera as Stephanie Holden) take down some baddies that threaten the bay. For the new BAYWATCH, the coast is flipped - with Los Angeles County out, and Florida's Broward County in. While you might not think that an R-rated BAYWATCH screams "toys!," the folks at Greenlight Collectibles are here with a 1:64-scale offering as part of their Greenlight Hollywood series.

If you happened to catch my latest column at The Toy Insider, then you've already seen a version of that image up-top: a pair of 1974 Dodge Monaco police cars operating on opposite sides of the law. Those 1:64-scale diecast replicas of vehicles from John Landis' 1980 film, The Blues Brothers, are among many produced over the past few years as part of the Greenlight Hollywood series from Greenlight Collectibles. While these have been out there for awhile, the few additional photos that I've shared on social media have piqued some interest, so I'm sharing more right here on the site.

It's the beginning of summer and you decide that it's time to take The Great American Road Trip. After setting your sights on a cross-country trip from Chicago to California, you head on over to Lou Glutz Motors to pick up the special-ordered Antarctic Blue Super Sports Wagon with the CB and the optional Rally Fun Pack -- the car that the entire family has been waiting for. Instead, you're presented with the all-new Wagon Queen Family Truckster in Metallic Pea. It's not what you ordered - not even the same model - but Lou's got a few of 'em on the lot, and with a trip to Cali happening in the morning, you settle. At least, that's what Clark W. Griswold (Chevy Chase) did in 1983's NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION, and in 2016, thanks to the folks at Greenlight Collectibles, you can bring the Family Truckster home.

While it's not uncommon for multiple companies to hold a license for products at the same time, it's less common for multiple companies in the same industry to hold the rights to make what is essentially the same product. One of those rare occasions is on the pegs right now as the Dodge news van from the Will Ferrell classic ANCHORMAN has been produced by both Mattel (as part of their Hot Wheels Retro Entertainment line) and Greenlight Collectibles (as part of Greenlight Hollywood). While both have their merits, it's interesting to see how vastly different two design teams can take the same thing. So which one wins in this diecast battle? Take a look...
