Electric vehicles are a fascinating thing, fueled by still-developing technology that the general population still has yet to embrace. While the adopters are growing in numbers, electric cars are still most prevalent in markets like California, not only due to a higher environmentally-friendly consciousness, but practicality as well. While makers like Tesla have their vehicles readily-available here in Northern Illinois where I live, there are issues pertaining to battery life and range that can hinder EVs in cold-weather climates (battery heaters are available), which is why Kia is smartly rolling out their first-ever zero-emmissions, all-electric vehicle in select markets before casting the net wider. Just launched on the West Coast, I had a chance to spend some time with the 2015 Kia Soul EV a couple of weeks back, taking to the road in Southern California to see just how this new ride handles and performs.

Rides: The KIA GT4 STINGER is Coming...

An email just hit my inbox from KIA Motors America with a sneak-preview of their new KIA GT4 STINGER. Powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that provides 315 horsepower to the rear wheels, this new ride is set to debut at the Detroit Auto Show in a couple of weeks, and I hope to see it first-hand at the Chicago Auto Show next month. Take a look at the pitch, along with the full teaser image below...

Earlier this summer, I was supposed to take the family out for a week in a 2013 KIA Soul. For some reason that didn't happen, and it might be due to the fact that the 2014 KIA Soul is almost here. During the MTV VMAs the other night, a new commercial made it's debut that features the newly-enhanced vehicle getting redesigned while the KIA Hamsters engage in an 80s-style personal makeover... all set to the new LADY GAGA single, "Applause" (from her forthcoming album, ARTPOP). I've got that new commercial for you right here on The Rock Father, so pay attention: KIA and I are giving YOU a chance to score a $25 iTunes Gift Card!

Kia Motors America will be hitting The Big Game this Sunday with an all-new Dad-centric ad that seeks to answer an age-old question: "Where do Babies Come From?" The clip is pretty funny (and well-done), so check it out below. I don't really plan on watching "The Big Game" this weekend (not a football fan), but my wife will likely force me to have it on for the experience of catching some of the commercials and the half-time performance "live" instead of online. Check out the new 2014 Kia Sorento Commercial below...

As the temperature neared 70 degrees this afternoon, our family worked to put up the outside Christmas lights while thinking about the road ahead. With the Holiday Season in full-effect, we'll be putting a lot of miles on the car as we catch up with family members that are scattered. Being "The Rock Father," the folks at Kia Motors asked if I had any suggestions for some songs well-suited for a Rockin' Holiday Road Trip Playlist, and I certainly do. Below you'll find ten great seasonal songs (in no particular order) to be played as a part of your Holiday Road Trip Playlist.
