While New York Toy Fair is still a few weeks off, the action is heating up at the Spielwarenmesse Toy Fair in Nuremburg, Germany right now. Some big news comes from my friends at The Step2 Company, who have finally dropped the curtain on their latest collaboration - one with British luxury Sports and Supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive to launch the officially licensed Step2® McLaren 570S Push Sports Car, a toddler-sized push car version of the McLaren 570S sports car. While the grownup version of the McLaren 570S will set you back around $185,000, the Step2 version will only run $79.99.

Chicago Auto ShowAttending the media preview days of the just-opened Chicago Auto Show last week, I experienced and photographed hundreds of new vehicles that are all vying for attention - not just from members of the press, but more importantly, from potential drivers. While I have some personal favorites and top picks that will be rolling out here on THE ROCK FATHER in the days ahead, if Instagram is any indicator, I already know what car the public seems most interested in... and it's one from a nameplate that I've mentioned in passing, but have yet to review here on the site: FORD. The 2017 Ford GT Supercar caught the attention of automotive enthusiasts when a blue version made it's debut last month in Detroit, but here in Chicago the twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 is bringing 600 horsepower excitement to attendees in a striking silver package. That car has quickly become my most-liked Instagram post of all-time thus far. Check it out...

Seven movies in, and for the first time, I actually have a desire to see a film from THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS franchise. I was lost on the first two movies, which I thought at the time (perhaps a revisit is in order?) were terrible - the first I recall being worse than I'd expected. So I tuned out for the next four installments, and here lands the trailer for FURIOUS 7, and I'm in. Directed by James Wan (SAW) and with Jason Statham (EVERYTHING) joining the massive ensemble cast, how the crew has become parachuting globetrotting government agents (?) with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kurt Russell is beyond me, but the film that the late Paul Walker was working on prior to his untimely death is now planted firmly on my "most anticipated" list for 2015. Check out the trailer below...

"When your friends ask you how fast you went, tell them 'I went as fast as I could.'" That was the final bit of advice given by Xtreme Xperience Chief Instructor Brad Pines at the close of an instructional session held in a classroom overlooking the pit area of the North Course of the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois on Saturday. It was there that I, along with a handful of other early morning drivers received some brief, but important lessons prior to taking to the track in some of the World's finest vehicles - Supercars. For me, it would be the Ferrari F430 - a 483 horsepower hand-crafted vehicle with a top speed of 196 mph... but it wouldn't be the first time that I'd take to the track in Joliet. For that, we have to spin things back to 1978...

Real Supercars. Real Racetracks. Real Instruction. That's the mantra for the Xtreme Xperience, the premier touring supercar driving experience, which returns to the Chicago area this weekend for two days at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet. There, car enthusiasts or budding racers can get behind the wheel of some of the world's finest vehicles, from a fleet that includes the Lamborghini LP560-4, Ferrari F430, Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8, Mercedes SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R, and McLaren MP4-12C, among others. Under the instruction and guidance of seasoned professionals, amateur drivers can learn racing fundamentals and safety procedures, all while having the the experience recorded through onboard cameras. While three-lap packages is where it began, this weekend, the action gets even bigger with the introduction of the half-day Supercar Academy, which compliments extended 10, 15, and 20-lap experiences.

AC/DC has certainly been the soundtrack for more than a few high-speed rides taken by yours truly, so when news hit my inbox that car enthusiast and sometimes racer BRIAN JOHNSON - the voice of AC/DC - would be hosting a new series called CARS THAT ROCK, my interest was piqued. Now, the problem is, it's only airing in the UK thus far, premiering on Discovery's Quest Channel on May 8. While I suspect it will eventually get imported Stateside (one would hope), the preview can be found below, alongside some newly-released images. Thus far, it appears that Mini, Bugatti, Rolls Royce and Lamborghini will be featured on the show, while Ferrari features in the trailer.
