LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is Coming...

There's been another awakening... and this time it's comin' at ya in LEGO form! On June 28, 2016, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit retail, bringing the signature humor of the LEGO Star Wars franchise to new heights as players navigate the new worlds discovered in J.J. Abrams' THE FORCE AWAKENS. Check out the announcement trailer, and pre-order yours today!

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS recently received five nominations for the 88th Academy Awards (airing live February 28 on ABC), and of them is rightfully in the category of visual FX. While the focus has been on the "real sets" and "practical effects" of the film, audiences might be surprised at just how much CGI was actually used... the key being that good CGI is undetectable. From large-scale set pieces that would've been impossible to build (crashed Star Destroyers on Jakku), to simple digital set extensions (the TIE Fighter bay - which would've been Matte Paintings in the old days), all the way to complex, fully-realized characters like Maz Kanata, the work was impressive. After winter break, STAR WARS REBELS returns to Disney XD with an all-new episode on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT). In "A Princess on Lothal,"an aide to Bail Organa (Princess Leia Organa) is sent to Lothal with ships for the rebel fleet, but an Imperial lockdown forces the rebels to create a new plan to steal the vehicles. Set just three years prior to the original STAR WARS Trilogy and the events of 1977's A NEW HOPE, Leia is shown as "a young leader on her way to becoming the strong, more resolute character" that fans came to know and love - decades before her appearance as General Leia Organa in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Today, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS became the highest grossing film of all time in the domestic market, surpassing the $760.5M lifetime gross of James Cameron's AVATAR in just 20 days of release hitting the mark nearly 300 days quicker than AVATAR back in 2009.  In addition, the film crossed the $800M mark at the international box office today, in a move I like to envision being akin to THE FIRST ORDER positioning Starkiller Base to blast Pandora and the Na'vi. As one of the 25 #StarWarsEvent bloggers, being but a tiny piece of this film's success is something I will forever cherish having been a part of...

As we sit here on the edge of one year, and on the cusp of another, it's come time to reflect on all that 2015 has brought us, and everything that 2016 may have in-store. Our social feeds are filled with tales of triumph and sorrow, as our friends and colleagues both celebrate their victories, and mourn their losses. It's always this time of year, among the melancholy post-Christmas days when the "holiday high" wears off, that everyone either can't turn the calendar quick enough, or they wish to bask in a year of successes that they hope will never end. For our family, this was a great year - and professionally, it was likely my best year, maybe not from a financial standpoint, but one of adventure and accomplishment in all of the areas in which I'm hoping to achieve. Time for a little horn-tooting, because it's all downhill from here...
