App Review: MARS POP Bubble Shooter

When it comes to casual gaming, I'm still old-school enough that I prefer things on a console - but I do have some apps in rotation on the multitude of devices available here at Rock Father HQ. We've got Windows, iOS and Android at our disposal, but I tend to think that the games usually run smoother on iOS (despite my overall lack of fondness for Apple). Outfit7's new MARS POP Bubble Shooter is a true cross-platformer - available for just about any device. Reviewed from my iPad Mini, Mars Pop is unique in that its a real-time bubble shooter in which players can take on a live opponent. Players are teamed randomly, or from Facebook friends, and the battle is on. Check out the gameplay video below...

In the short period of time since I finally decided to allow my girls to get some hand-held screentime, we've gone from having no tablet to having at least three (there might be more). The iPad Mini is largely THE ROCK FATHER's tablet, and that means that it's pretty much set-up for me, but over the past couple of months, I've really started to kid-ifiy it a bit, loading up the best Apps that can both teach and entertain. One of the best new releases comes from Disney, a name that families like ours are immersed in on a daily basis, and with Disney Imagicademy there's a whole new world of learning opening up for kids ages 3-8, and a parental component that can enrich the entire program through an interconnected experience.

JUNO'S PIANO (Music App Review)

juno125Last month we first told you about THE JUNO COMPANY's JUNO'S PIANO, a new App for the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch that helps teach children the real-life basics of playing the piano. As a parent myself, and with Kik Axe Music always on the lookout for the latest in music education, I decided to take a test-drive of my own, downloading the App for my iPhone.
