Last year at Blogger Bash in New York City, I got an early look at Sentiments' first Disney Pets Collection - a series of dog beds and bowls based around the iconic look of Mickey Mouse. Now comes word that the line was a success, and with that they're expanding line - and with Spider-Man: Homecoming hitting theaters this month, it's appropriate that their first foray into the Marvel realm is a collection aimed solely at canine fans of a certain NYC-based web-slinger. Can your dog (or cat) be a Disney or Marvel fan? I don't see why not...

When I was little, Mickey Mouse was a great friend - something I've written about in the past. In fact, before I got into things like STAR WARS and G.I. JOE, Mickey and his friends were tops, and that makes it even sweeter when I see my girls enjoying the "Magical World of Disney," from DOC McSTUFFINS and SOFIA THE FIRST to MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE and MINNIE'S BOW-TIQUE. Of my two daughters, it's Little Finley that has a particular affection for Mickey and Minnie, and that helps plant the Minnie's Bow-Tique Hold My Hands Singing Minnie Mouse by Just Play on my 2014 Holiday Wish Guide. Recommended for Ages 3+, Minnie is a great toy that Finn has been enjoying hands-on, so much that I believe your little ones will love it, too.

Build-A-BearThe folks over at Build-A-Bear Workshop just sent over word that their latest collection has been released, and it's dedicated to the pink-and-white polka-dotted world of MINNIE MOUSE.

Now available are a 16" Minnie Mouse-themed bear, complete with Minnie's signature bow on top, and custom graphics on her paws. This bear is completely customizable with a full line of outfits and accessories - even her own little bear.

Disney Junior Live! For my local friends here in the Chicagoland area, the stars of some pretty popular preschool series' are headed for Rosemont. The folks at Feld Entertainment will bring Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure to the Rosemont Theatre from March 14-17, with characters from SOFIA THE FIRST and JAKE AND THE NEVER LAND PIRATES bound to rock the house for your little ones. Tickets are selling fast (they've already added additional performances), but I have a discount code for you, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

When I first caught an episode or two of MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE some years back, I wasn't really into it. There was something that struck me as a bit hollow, and the animation style just didn't appeal to me. Fortunately, by the time my girls started to show interest in Mickey and the gang, the show had improved drastically in both animation and storytelling, and on recent home video releases (like December's SUPER ADVENTURE!), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse has actually tapped into a lot of what I loved about THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB and THE NEW MICKEY MOUSE CLUB (both of which I'd seen in re-runs as a kid), speaking directly to young audiences and teaching valuable lessons and social skills through story and song. Out this week, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: MINNIE-RELLA keeps that vibe going, introducing families to a new tale based on the classic CINDERELLA story.

As we entered the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on Wednesday night, I couldn't help but think that the "kid" version of me would be pretty impressed. After all, when I was but a wee lad, attending DISNEY ON ICE was a very special experience - one that I first took part in way back in 1981 (I went into detail on that here) - and something that was a rare occasion. But here we are, and "grownup" James has been to DISNEY ON ICE three times in just under a year. The kid version of me would have just as much trouble believing that as the McFly family did when Marty went back to 1955 and mentioned having television sets... "two of them." Having taken my oldest to Rockin' Ever After last January at the Allstate Arena, followed by 100 Years of Magic (with both girls) last November at United Center, it was time for a new performance with DISNEY ON ICE Presents Let's Celebrate!, which we attended courtesy of Feld Entertainment via the work I do with US Family Guide. You know what? Attending DISNEY ON ICE is still a very special experience.
