Not long into the first act of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana, there’s a scene where the young Polynesian princess (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho) flat-out disobeys her father. As the leader of the island of Motunui, Chief Tui Waialiki (Temuera Morrison) maintains a firm, yet humble demeanor - looking after the care of his people, though nothing is more important to him than the well-being of his daughter.
As we head into the big Christmas weekend, Walt Disney Animation Studios' MOANA is still wowing audiences, and here at Rock Father HQ, two things are happening: The girls keep getting more MOANA toys, and the soundtrack is in regular rotation. Indeed, the music is excellent, and today we have an official video for "Shiny," as performed by Jemaine Clement (FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, The BFG) as Tamatoa, alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as Maui. Check it out, alongside the rest of the soundtrack in the player below...
We're nearing the Thanksgiving week release of one of our girls' most-anticipated films of the year, Walt Disney Animation Studios' Moana. A tale of a young girl on a great adventure with a mighty demigod, the film features the voice talents of Auli‘i Cravalho, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jemaine Clement (FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS), Rachel House, Temuera Morrison (The STAR WARS Prequels' Jango Fett), Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls), Alan Tudyk (ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY), and was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker - the duo behind THE LITTLE MERMAID and ALADDIN. Today we've got a new featurette called “The Way to Moana,” featuring commentary from filmmakers, voice talent, songwriters, and key advisors from the Pacific Islands - delving into the research and collaboration that went into the film, helping to ensure the story celebrates the Pacific Island cultures that so deeply inspired it. Check out that and all related video from the film in the player below!
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ MOANA opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016, and today comes a pair of new clips from the film, along with full details on the film's original soundtrack. "Moana Meets Maui," and a snippet of the song "You're Welcome" can be seen in the player below (complete with all currently-released video from the film), the latter being sung by Dwayne Johnson (as Maui), as written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony Award-winning creator of HAMILTON.
On November 23, Walt Disney Animation Studios' 56th feature film, MOANA, will hit theaters, presenting a new tale of adventure set against a beautiful South Pacific backdrop. Today comes a look at just four of the many books inspired by the film that will be making their way to retailers over the next few weeks, a sampling sent to Rock Father HQ by my friends at Disney Publishing. This is a cross-section of titles that represents something for the entire family. Check out the details and recommended ages below!
