Toy Review: Zimmiz (App Toy)

Back in January, the folks from Zimmiz asked if they could dispatch one of the alien creatures from "Planet Zimmi" to pay us a visit here at Rock Father HQ. Not one to resist the opportunity to check out some new toys, I accepted the offer, and soon a little green Zimmi was sitting on our doorstep. He'd "come a long way..."

The folks over at PBS KIDS have just launched PBS Parents Play & Learn, their first app designed specifically for parents to help them build early math and literacy skills for children 4 and under. The bilingual (English/Spanish) app breaks activities into three stages - baby, toddler and preschool - with 13 games and 52 hands-on activities for parents and kids to enjoy together.

No, TOY STORY 4 is not happening... yet, and any word otherwise is simply a rumor. But, Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang are back in a new iOS game called TOY STORY: SMASH IT!, that was just released this week. The folks at Disney Publishing Worldwide got in touch with The Rock Father with details on the new game, along with some crazy "March Madness" specials on a trio of classic Apps. Check 'em out below!

As BRAVE gave Pixar their seventh Oscar for "Best Animated Feature" at last night's Academy Awards, audiences that have yet to experience the tale of Merida are seeking it out, while those who have are seeking new ways to do so. I have to admit that while well-versed in the "Disney Princess" realm, we have not yet seen BRAVE, though we did get a taste at the recent ROCKIN' EVER AFTER edition of Disney on Ice. That said, iOS users that are looking to expand on the world of BRAVE with their own children have two recent Apps to check out...

They're the self-proclaimed "Greatest Unknown Band in the Galaxy," and THE DIGITS just may be able to help your kids master some math skills. THE DIGITS: FRACTION BLAST was released last Fall as an iOS and Android App, and has now arrived on the Amazon for the Kindle (get it here). My little ones are too young for THE DIGITS, but if you have children ages 7-11, you might wanna check this out. Full details below...

SOFIA THE FIRST made made a big splash this past Friday, with her Disney Junior premiere becoming the #1 preschool series launch in cable history. While the arrival of a new Princess on the block brought the Anti-Princess parents out in droves, the overwhelming majority (including myself) seems to have enjoyed the show with their children. To conicide with the launch of the new series, the SOFIA THE FIRST: STORY THEATER App has been released for iOS devices, including iPad and iPhone.
