There was a time when I was always at the forefront of new technology. That was before I was a parent, and these days I'm way behind. We don't have a iPad, Kindle, or any other "tablet" device. My iPhone is an iPhone 3, which means that I can't install iOS 5.1 on it, thus making all the cool new games and Apps completely incompatible with my device. While Apple continues pumping out new versions of the products, I just can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on new tech on a regular basis (there are more important expenses like diapers, formula, etc). I bought my iPhone in 2010, and in 2012 it's beyond "relic" status. It's a little irritating when I have news like this to share... Disney Publishing has just released a new FINDING NEMO App called NUMBERS WITH NEMO.

FOX International's BabyTV has been releasing Apps for the iPhone and iPad for awhile now, and as of this week, they've added a new one to their growing library. LEARNING GAMES FOR KIDS focuses on "early learning concepts including color recognition, numeracy, matching & sorting as well as encouraging language development" for kids 2-5. It's available exclusively from the Apple App Store (click here for iPhone, or here for iPad) for the next 45 days, after which it will become available on Google Play as well.

The OUR PLACE NETWORK (OPN) has launched a new mobile application and podcast geared toward teens and tweens as part of their effort to create a social network for adolescents. The iOS App is currently available in the App Store, and is expected to roll out on other platforms in the near future. Full details landed here at Rock Father HQ this weekend, and can be viewed below.

Presidential Candidate Randy Blythe of the band LAMB OF GOD has a pretty distinct vocal sound, and if you'd like to sound like him with the help of technology, now you can give it a shot. The band has just released an iOS app called VOX OF GOD, which creates ''a vocal simulation of Randy's signature scream/growl effect when the user records their voice using the app with their iPhone.'' I'm curious what my toddler would think of this.
