It's never too early to start thinking about my favorite season, Fall, and the greatest holiday of the year, Halloween. That holiday is also the backdrop for John Carpenter's 1978 film, Halloween, one that spawned a sprawling franchise that's been able to last four decades. Now, for the 40th Anniversary of the film that started it all, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride have crafted a story that carves a new path from the events of the original. In Halloween (2018) Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago. This is the type of personal journal entry that I'm always hesitant to post - the kind that I wish that my family wouldn't read, if only because I fear that they will fault me for simply being who I am and being honest about it, despite that fact that the fear is probably something more perceived than reality, and that's part of the problem. I just don't want anyone to be hurt or upset because I am broken...

It's Friday morning. The second day of summer break (and really, there is no "break" when you have kids) and Finley is sitting on the couch behind me watching TV while her big sister, Addie, sleeps in for a change upstairs. Nothing on the schedule for the girls today, and that's a very rare thing. As for me, I'm sitting at the computer in my office, typing these words that you're reading while sipping my first Diet Mountain Dew of the day while holding back tears in my eyes. They're tears incited by the reports this morning of the death of a man who I didn't know... a man I was familiar with, one whose work wasn't particularly special to me in any way, but one with legions of fans around the globe: Chef Anthony Bourdain.

It was two years ago already that I sat down with the team behind the DreamWorks Animation Netflix Original Series Voltron: Legendary Defender. Now, the sixth season arrives on June 15, and it's poised to answer some questions I had back then - particularly in dealing with Lotor. The Paladins are primed and ready to face their biggest challenge yet with seven all-new episodes. Check out the trailer below!

As the summer movie season starts, we're starting to see a ton of glimpses into the future. It's been a massive week for movie trailers, and today we've got the first look at DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, which doesn't hit theaters until March 1, 2019. The third big-screen Dragons film caps off the trilogy and the this first-look presents it as perhaps the best of the series. After showing this to my girls, we're all hoping that PLAYMOBIL continues their Dragons toy line (more will be released this summer) so that we can get Toothless's new friend! Check out the new trailer, complete with Ed Sheeran's "Castle on the Hill" which also featured in the trailer for last year's Ferdinand...

The collectibles realm continues to expand, and this summer Spin Master is going POP!  The toymaker has just launched a brand new line of collectible dolls and accessories called Party Popteenies. There's 25 miniature dolls to collect from across three different themed parties – Winter Wonderland Surprise, Cutie Animal Surprise and Rainbow Unicorn Surprise. For the new collection, Spin Master is getting into the surprise/reveal/unboxing craze by giving kids a chance to have elements of each in every Party Popteenies toy - right down to the packaging which resembles gift boxes and party favors. Check out the first commercial and full details below, along with the debut Party Popteenies music video!

When I was in the Hasbro showroom at the 115th North American International Toy Fair back in February, one of the action figures highlighted as part of the relaunch of The Vintage Collection was Doctor Aphra. Ripped from the pages of Marvel Comics' Darth Vader series, Aphra turned heads and quickly became one of the most buzzed-about new figures from Hasbro. While she'll be available later this year as a single-carded figure at mass retail, her debut will happen at San Diego Comic-Con International, where the tradition of Star Wars "Special Action Figure Sets" will continue. Check out the details below!
