Jimmy Fallon - BLOW YOUR PANTS OFF (Comedy Review)

Written by

It seems like a lifetime ago that JIMMY FALLON released his first comedy album, THE BATHROOM WALL. Actually, it's been a decade since I purchased that album (I still have it), and now Fallon is finally getting around to album number two. The difference this time around is that 2012 Fallon is the host of LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON, a successful late night television program that you've probably watched on occasion. Last time, 2002 Fallon was a Saturday Night Live cast member known for breaking out the acoustic guitar for some musical humor. Instead of prepping an album's worth of new studio tracks, BLOW YOUR PANTS OFF is musical comedy taken directly from his namesake show. Does it deliver? That depends on how much you dig the source material.

Having enjoyed Fallon's run on Late Night immensely, I think that his musical output is fantastic, but honestly, these performances are all available on the official NBC website, not to mention YouTube, Hulu, etc. Regardless, having them compiled together makes for a fun set, and one worthy of replaying. The biggest, most viral hits are all here, and with Justin Timberlake, Paul McCartney, Eddie Vedder, Dave Matthews, Bruce Springsteen, Stephen Colbert, Big & Rich, and Brian Williams all making guest appearances, the star power is well-repped.

TRACKLISTING:
1.Neil Young Sings “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”
2.History of Rap (feat. Justin Timberlake)
3.Tebowie
4.Scrambled Eggs (feat. Paul McCartney)
5.The Doors Sing “Reading Rainbow”
6.Balls In Your Mouth (feat. Eddie Vedder)
7.My Upstairs Neighbors Are Having Sex (And Listening To The Black Eyed Peas)
8.Bob Dylan Sings “Charles in Charge”
9.Walk of Shame (feat. Dave Matthews)
10.Slow Jam The News (feat. Brian Williams)
11.New French Girlfriend
12.Cougar Huntin’ (feat. Big & Rich)
13.You Spit When You Talk
14.Friday (feat. Stephen Colbert)
15.Neil Young Sings “Whip My Hair” (feat. Bruce Springsteen)

Digital Bonus Tracks:
16. Jeremy (Linsanity)
17. Let Us Play With Your Look

The one thing that would've made this set all the sweeter is if all three installments of the Fallon/Timberlake "History of Rap" installments were included, rather than just the first. Speaking of which, why is part 3 so hard to find online? It's even been removed from the NBC video player, but World Star Hip-Hop has it.

BLOW YOUR PANTS OFF is available on CD or in a variety of special packages direct from the NBC Store
