Funny enough, I've been doing my annual 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER for eighteen days now, and today of all days, I didn't have an entry scheduled. While I may have goofed, the internet Gods shined upon me this evening with an out-of-the-darkness email from a rep for Chicago band, COMMON SHINER, pointing me in the direction of their new music video, "Social Mediasochist." Imagine for a moment that the John Hughes-inspired world of NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE was placed in a blender with every slasher film from about 1980 'til now. See what the students of Wes Craven's Slasher High School are up to in the new video, directed by Zoran Gvojic of Lowcarbcomedy...

This is a pretty fantastically-detailed video, with some great production design and nods to a ton of classic horror movies. So who (and what) all do we have here? Let's see how accurate my count is...

  • shineroppJason Voorhees of FRIDAY THE 13th and his entire family
  • Freddy Krueger of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
  • CARRIE
  • A pint of Larry Cohen's THE STUFF
  • Michael Myers from HALLOWEEN
  • Pinhead from HELLRAISER
  • The Book of the Dead from THE EVIL DEAD
  • Leslie Vernon from BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON
  • Ghostface from SCREAM
  • Billy the Puppet from SAW
  • The Pig from MOTEL HELL
  • FANGORIA Magazine (yes, I used to work for them)
  • A Chucky Doll from CHILD'S PLAY
  • The Leprechaun
  • A JASON X Mask
  • CANDY MAN
  • A Lifesize GREMLINS Prop Replica
  • Posters for DR. GIGGLES, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, MANIAC, MANIAC COP, RE-ANIMATOR, PHANTASM 2
  • Leatherface from TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE
  • Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King's IT
  • The Fisherman from I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER
  • The Winter Coat Guy from URBAN LEGENDS
  • Samara from THE RING
  • Norman Bates' Mother from PSYCHO
  • Some guys from THE STRANGERS
  • Killer Lamb from YOU'RE NEXT
  • Santa from SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT
  • An ARMY OF DARKNESS Ash statue.

Did I miss anything?
