When you're a kid, poop is funny. Then you grow up and somehow it becomes less funny by the year, and for whatever reason, a taboo subject... despite the fact that everybody poops. In Poop Talk, a new docu-comedy from director Aaron Feldman, 50 experts and comedians come together to shatter the stigma of poop. From embarrassing moments to the scientific reasoning behind it all, Poop Talk may well be the definitive film about feces. Among those featured are The Sklar Brothers, Randy and Jason, who also serve as Executive Producers on the film, which was initially pitched as "The History of Poop." Feldman calls it "a seemingly high brow approach to a low brow subject," and ahead of its February 16 release via Comedy Dynamics, The Sklar Brothers took some time to throw-down with The Rock Father™ some additional thoughts on the subject in a two-part feature. In particular, "The Great Poop Toy Explosion of 2018,"which is expected to make a big splash at the 115th North American Toy Fair in New York City, the same weekend that Poop Talk hits theaters.
On May 27th, Metal Blade Records will release SONGS FROM THE GARAGE (pre-order), the first album by comedian JIM BREUER and his backing band, THE LOUD & ROWDY. Earlier today, a new music video for "Thrash" hit my inbox, and essentially it's what happens here at my house when my wife takes The Rock Daughters™ on an adventure that leaves me with a few hours of free time... the exception being that I crank the metal sans headphones. Check this out... I'm digging it!
MARIA BAMFORD is busy, the Minnesota native long-ago leaving behind "The Land of 10,000 Lakes" in favor of the Los Angeles River. Aside from doing stand-up and making appearances on shows such as ABC's FRESH OFF THE BOAT, Bamford is a prolific voice actor, lending her chords to everything from ADVENTURE TIME and KUNG FU PANDA to WORDGIRL and AXE COP. One of her most-heard roles is that of TALKING GINGER - a boy kitty, performed by a girl. As part of the YouTube hit,TALKING TOM AND FRIENDS: THE ANIMATED SERIES, millions have seen the character from Outfit 7's popular series of apps go on countless adventures. To celebrate Talking Ginger's birthday (today, April 8), Bamford took a few minutes to throw down some knowledge about the curious cat.
This afternoon, I sat-in on a discussion about the growing number of Stand-Up Specials that will be rolling out on Netflix in the coming year. Hannibal Buress, John Mulaney and Patton Oswalt threw down some thoughts on working with Netflix on their latest specials - Oswalt largely equating the readily-available library as being like "albums on a shelf" - You want to see it, and there it is. This Spring, four new titles will join that virtual shelf, with details and premiere dates for specials by Buress, Jimmy Carr, Theo Von and Oswalt ready to roll out. Check out a preview...
Those who know me are usually aware of my dislike for door-to-door solicitors and telemarketers. They're scummy professions in my eyes (don't call my cell, don't ring my bell - maybe I should trademark that!), so I love it when there's an opportunity to fight back... with a little humor, of course. On December 4, Metal Blade Records will unleash TERRORIZING TELEMARKETERS: VOLUME 6, the latest collection of phone-based retaliation from JIM FLORENTINE and DON JAMIESON. Available via iTunes, Amazon, and the like, physical CDs will be available exclusively at live shows. Check out "In a Pickle..."
The folks behind Sock Puppet Parody are back, and this time they're keeping the Texas vibe alive with a send-up of PANTERA's "Walk." Performed by HAMPTERA (of "Folding Hostile" fame), this one's got the seal of approval from PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul himself! Check out the new clip below, and watch for Vinnie (currently busy with HELLYEAH) at the end. Bonus Fact: Back in the early 90s, my friends and I used to call Dime & Vinnie's house to hear their "PANTERA Hotline!" answering machine messages. Sometimes we'd leave a message as a goof.
