ANDREW W.K. becomes a Playtex Spokesperson and Brand Ambassador?

Who is ANDREW W.K.'s agent? I mean, I know who his publicist is (Hi Jerry!), but where do these interesting opportunities keep coming from? Last year, Andrew found himself speaking about the virtues of Pinkie Pie at a convention celebrating MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC. Then he was tapped for a position by the U.S. State Department to be a "Cultural Ambassador" to the Middle East - a gig that got nixed, but still, it happened. Now comes word that Andrew W.K. has been named a Spokesperson for PLAYTEX.

No, he's not touting the line of "Binky" pacifers (remember parents, never call a pacifier a "Binky" unless it is, of course, a BINKY), nor is he repping the Diaper Genie or WET ONES - both of which are products you could expect to find on the more baby-centric homepage of The Rock Father. Instead, Energizer Personal Care, a division of Energizer Holdings, Inc (which I didn't know existed until today) has hired Mr. W.K. to be "The Face of PLAYTEX Fresh + Sexy Wipes."

On their choice of Andrew W.K. as a spokesperson, Playtex said the following:

playtexwipesIn addition, the duo has collaborated on a special Andrew W.K. Sensory Kit on behalf of Playtex for Fresh + Sexy Wipes. This exclusive kit will only be sent to 100 hand-picked recipients among the media (I wonder if I'm one of them?), Andrew’s own family of partiers, and additional friends of the brand. It will offer a sensual experience, dramatically hitting all five of the recipients’ senses from the packaging to content inside.

Look for W.K. and Playtex to appear together during the official Fresh + Sexy Party at SXSW Interactive. Taking place on Saturday, March 9th at VICELAND (401 East Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas), W.K. will host The Fresh + Sexy Black Booth Confessional Party, an event that includes free product (while supplies last), free drinks, and awesome live music, including a special performance from Andrew W.K. himself. As master of ceremonies and the Playtex brand ambassador, W.K. will also invite people to come clean in a one-of-a-kind confessional booth, a setting to tell stories about those exciting and spontaneous moments where they could have used Fresh + Sexy Wipes.
