The crew over at Astralwerks hit The Rock Father with the news that they've just signed German five-piece, CLAIRE. The band will release the BROKEN PROMISE LAND EP on September 24, but prior to that they'll release their first single, "Games" on August 13. The two-track digital single will also feature a new remix by I HEART SHARKS. Those that want an early taste can snag a FREE DOWNLOAD of their song "Pioneers" via Facebook, and check out the video for "Games" below.

On August 27, PUSCIFER, the electro-rock band fronted by TOOL mainman Maynard James Keenan, will release ALL RE-MIXED UP, a new collection of remixes by some interesting collaborators... including SIR MIX-A-LOT. Today, Vibe premiered the Sir Mix-A-Lot remix of "Conditions of My Parole," the title track from PUSCIFER's 2011 album. Hear the F.U.B.A.R. mix below, or (if the player doesn't load) this location.

The crew over at ANTI Records have released a FREE, 10-song Summer Sampler via Noisetrade. The collection features tracks from NEKO CASE (new album out September 3), MAVIS STAPLES, TOM WAITS & KEITH RICHARDS, BETH ORTON, and more. Grab it as a FREE DOWNLOAD via the widget below.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS are hitting the road with new frontman, CHESTER BENNINGTON (LINKIN PARK). Billed as "Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington" (reminds me of the whole "Sublime with Rome" thing), the band will head out with FILTER in support. Additionally, the band has announced a new EP for this fall, to be released by the band's own label, with distribution through ADA. Back in 1993, I interviewed drummer Eric Kretz and guitarist Dean DeLeo at the Palmer Auditorium in Davenport, Iowa. The band was touring in support of CORE, while opening for MEGADETH. I need to unearth that video of a 16-year-old me rockin' it with those guys. I also have a great story about Scott Weiland from that night, along with some photos I shot on 35mm (my first time in a photo pit). We'll save all of that for another day, but in the meantime, check out the STP tour dates...

As a STAR WARS fan that is also a fan of metal, this might just be the best music video that I will see this year. Ahead of the October 1 North American release of their new album, THE DISAPPEARING HUMANS (Century Media/Earache Records), THE MORE I SEE has released the video for "The Eye That Offends." The entire piece was shot on abandoned sets from the iconic first STAR WARS film, deep within the Tunisian Desert of North Africa. Watch it now...

KORN is unleashing a new record this Fall, the first with guitarist Brian "Head" Welch since 2003's TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR. I was in the camp that always figured that Head would eventually return, but it's hard to believe it's already been a decade(!). THE PARADIGM SHIFT will be released on October 1 via Prospect Park, the result of recording sessions that took place in Bakersfield and Los Angeles, CA with producer Don Gilmore (LINKIN PARK, JAY-Z, HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD).

This September, NIRVANA will release the 20th Anniversary Edition of an album that I've already purchased twice. You see, back in the days prior to the internet and iTunes (and file sharing), record labels would often include bonus tracks on International releases of albums, all in hopes of snagging additional sales to hardcore American fans, many of whom (myself included - sucker) would buy the album again to have all of their favorite bands' music. In the case of IN UTERO (which was originally released on September 13, 1993), the Japanese version featured an additional track, "Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip," which was actually denoted as a "Devalued American Dollar Purchase Incentive Track." This Fall, I will buy the album again (unless I get sent one, of course).

Some news from PRODUCT OF HATE, a band managed by The Rock Father himself, James Zahn...

Wisconsin-based metal crew PRODUCT OF HATE have released a Special Edition summer EP via Noisetrade, available immediately as a FREE DOWNLOAD. “Revolution of Destruction” b/w “A Well Deserved Death” pairs together the band’s recent digital singles for the very first time, while bringing their crushing sound to new listeners gratis. Both songs were recorded and engineered by Chris Wisco (LAZARUS A.D., JUNGLE ROT) at Belle City Sound in Racine, WI. Wisco previously helmed the band’s 2010 release, THE UNHOLY MANIPULATOR, which was mixed by James Murphy (DEATH, TESTAMENT, OBITUARY).

brattoncoverCREED BRATTON rocks. From his days as a member of THE GRASS ROOTS to his hilarious version of himself on NBC's THE OFFICE, Creed has experienced some ups-and-downs in his lifetime, including time spent on the unemployment line. Now, Bratton has released a three-part "audiobiography" entitled, TELL ME ABOUT IT (on iTunes now), and has released a video for "Unemployment Line" to go along with it. Check out the video below, along with some words from Creed about the new song...

ANDREW W.K. is experiencing a "renaissance" of sorts. 2013 has been a very good year for the party expert, and today brings news that takes the year to even greater heights: ANDREW W.K. will be the exclusive opening act for BLACK SABBATH as they tour North America in support of their just-released album, 13. Andrew will open each show with a DJ set as he "promises to spin a rabble-rousing selection of classic riffs, heavy jams, and crowd pleasing favorites spanning every era of hard rock and metal."

Now this is the RADIOHEAD that I enjoy. I'm well-aware that my opinion of current RADIOHEAD is an unpopular one - that the band stopped rocking after THE BENDS and started going down a rabbit hole of blips and blorps that didn't interest me, all while convincing audiences that what they're doing is just "amaaaaaaaazing" (I HATE when people use that word in such an extended form). In fact, OK Computer was not just an album title, but an actual quote: what the band said to their P.C. upon recording all subsequent albums. But my opinion on the current state of RADIOHEAD is not important when it comes to this... LIVE AT TRAMPS JUNE 1, 1995. It's a full live album available as a FREE DOWNLOAD courtesy of Noisetrade and Paste Magazine. Get a taste below...

I was in my car last night when I caught my first listen to new music from DEVILDRIVER via SiriusXM Liquid Metal. I've long gotten a bit of grief for my love for Dez' work in COAL CHAMBER vs. what I always thought was average music from DEVILDRIVER. But... with this new album, WINTER KILLS about to be released on Napalm Records this August, my interest is piqued. The band has unleased "Ruthless" to internet listeners and you can find it streaming below. Crank it up, and then share your thoughts on the track in the comments section.
