TALES FROM THE MONSTROSITY SCROLLS by San Francisco's RAINBOW BEAST & THE ROCK BAND LAND ROCKERS secured it's place as one of my favorite family albums of 2014 even before this year actually began. In fact, it was just shy of a year ago that the February release first entered my ears, and in the time since, the catalog of Rainbow Beast has only grown - fueled by the imaginations of the children who attend the Rock Band Land camps and classes that are presented by the San Fran "creativity school." While monsters and other supernatural creatures have infiltrated the music of Rainbow Beast many times in the past, one recent entry has risen forth to snag a space in the 2014 edition of 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER. Feast your ears upon "The Ghosts of the Sea" and consider it as a worthy addition to your Halloween Music Playlist this year...

"The Godfather of Shock Rock," ALICE COOPER is a legend - and one whose career has spanned six decades. In fact, Cooper and Halloween go hand-in-hand, and way back in 1978, the man who allegedly took his name from a Ouija Board made his way to THE MUPPET SHOW, on which he revealed himself as an Agent of The Devil, offering THE MUPPETS "fabulous riches and Worldwide fame" in exchange for their felt-covered souls. While he may not have succeeded in snatching the heart of Kermit, Cooper did manage to break out memorable performances of "Welcome to My Nightmare," "You and Me," and "School's Out," all while backed by Muppets and Monsters alike. ALICE COOPER's 1978 appearance on THE MUPPET SHOW lands at Day 2 on 31 Days of Halloween 2014, a special "Throwback Thursday" edition. Watch the full episode below.

In Equestria, they say that everypony loves Halloween. The same holds true at Rock Father HQ, where we not only love Halloween, but have a couple of certified MLP fans on our hands, eager to follow the adventures of the Mane Six wherever they may roam. In MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC: SPOOKTACULAR PONY TALES (out now from Shout! Factory Kids) Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack and Pinkie Pie (Spike, too!) battle the forces of darkness (well, maybe not exactly) in six seasonally delightful episodes that go perfect with a crisp Fall breeze and some pumpkin-spiced sweets, landing firmly in 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER.

Here we are... Day 31 of 31 Days of Halloween 2013 here on The Rock Father - Halloween Day! There's a lot of "threes" involved in this one, with Halloween falling on the date of my third-ever Throwback Thursday since picking up that torch earlier this month. For the Grand Finale of 2013, I'm spinning things back three decades, to this exact date 30 years ago. October 31, 1983. STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI had just been released the previous May, the third film in what would later become known as the original STAR WARS TRILOGY. It was that Halloween that I would first don my Ben Cooper Darth Vader Halloween Costume, taking to the streets as Lord Vader... wielding a green, Luke Skywalker lightsaber. Not film-accurate, but I worked with what I had.

For Day 30 of 31 Days of Halloween 2013 here on The Rock Father, we have... a repeat entry from 2012? Indeed we do, as IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN makes it back into my annual celebration of the Halloween Season. Airing tomorrow, Halloween night at 8|7c on ABC, as I said last year, there has never been, nor will there ever be, another Halloween special as timeless as the 1966 classic featuring The Peanuts Gang. If you don't already have it on DVD or Blu-Ray (or maybe, even if you do), there's just something really special about sitting down as a family and watching it on live television. In the meantime, here's a couple of clips...

75 Years ago, "The Panic Broadcast" took place. It was then that a 23-year-old ORSON WELLES performed THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, a radio drama broadcast as part of THE MERCURY THEATRE ON AIR. Based on H.G. Wells' 1898 novel of the same name, Welles and his crew managed to cause panic across America as unknowing listeners began to believe that aliens had really descended upon the small town of Grovers Mill, New Jersey. For Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween here on The Rock Father, I'm featuring PBS AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: WAR OF THE WORLDS, which premieres tonight on PBS. Check out a preview below...
