My embarrassing confession of the day is that somewhere... there exists a VHS tape in storage... one that contains footage of myself and a high school friend... both wearing our clothing backwards. Kid rap duo KRISS KROSS started a ridiculous fashion fad, and we spoofed it on my infamous cable access series, ZTV. I remember it as being terrible, and I'm sure that it was. On the flipside, I have no regrets in liking Kriss Kross' 1992 hit "Jump," and that's why I'm bringing you this tonight - the official music video for a new cover version by New Jersey band, DeathThrob. A little metal perhaps? Check it out...

Given how big a Global cultural phenomenon it's become, it's almost hard to imagine that it was just one year ago today - November 27, 2013 - that Walt Disney Animation Studios' FROZEN first hit theaters. A year out, and FROZEN has officially toppled Barbie to be the biggest doll line (with MONSTER HIGH close behind), has inspired countless YouTube videos, parodies and tributes - and has managed to sell over three million Elsa dresses (at least one to me). Out of all the films I could've done a press trip for, I was fortunate to be included in the group of writers to visit Walt Disney Animation Studios to help promote the first home video release of FROZEN earlier this year, and now seems like a perfect time to do a recap - this being the first anniversary of the forever-classic - along with five of the best ROCK cover versions of "Let It Go," the iconic song that has made Idina Menzel a household name. Ready to "Let It Go" again?

MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA is doing a few U.S. dates for the next week, but then they head down under with a run of dates where Kevin Devine will be supporting. Back in 1966, Napoleon XIV released a sonic oddity called "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" - a song that has often emerged during the Halloween season as a bizarre addition to the spooky, seasonal playlist. While it's popularity has dwindled over the years, the BUTCHER BABIES have brought it back for 2014, metalizing it for their recent covers EP, UNCOVERED (released via Century Media). For 31 Days of Halloween this year, I'm adding it to the playlist, fueled by the release of their new, slasher-eque music video. See it below, but don't show the kids!

ANNIEThe 2014 reimagining of ANNIE is coming to theaters this December, and today we have a new taste of what a contemporary take on the soundtrack will sound like. The first single just hit iTunes, with Australian songstress SIA serving up her version of "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile." Now, I grew up on the 1982 film (my sister and I even had the action figures for it), and my oldest (5) just did her first theatre camp this past summer doing a version of ANNIE largely based on that version. While my nostalgia is there, this is definitely ANNIE for a new generation, and I think kids are gonna love it. In fact, my little Addie says "It's really great," after hearing the SIA version. Take a listen below and share your thoughts...
