Before I even started listening to BOSSY FROG PRODUCTIONS' latest release, 15 SONGS EVERY KID SHOULD KNOW (AND WILL LOVE!), I was already reworking the title into other variations. "15 Songs Ever Parent is Tired Of (So Play 'Em Again!)"; "15 Songs You Already Have 15 Versions Of (So Here's 16!)"; "15 Songs We Probably Won't Have to License Because They're Probably in the Public Domain (No Royalties!)"; and my favorite, "Hey! At Least it's Not KIDZ BOP (Make the Pain Stop, Act II)". In reality, 15 SONGS isn't bad... but it's not great, either.

People are always asking me about "punk rock for kids," in which case I direct them toward Chicago's very own purveyors of Kindie Punk, THE BOOGERS. But what about punk rock for babies? That's always tricky, but a good place to start is in the lullaby realm, and after dipping their toes into the punk rock waters with collections based on GREEN DAY, DROPKICK MURPHYS, and SOCIAL DISTORTION, the crew at Roma Music Group are getting ready to release LULLABY VERSIONS OF THE CLASH (out 9/10), a collection perfectly-timed with the release of a major CLASH retrospective. Check out the Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star version of "Should I Stay or Should I Go," and if you dig it - pre-order on iTunes now to get the track as an immediate download. The Man in Black. The legacy of JOHNNY CASH is indisputable... his influence forever being felt on musicians of all genres. As we approach the 10th Anniversary of his death, new life has been given to his work through an all-new collection of lullabies from the folks at Roma Music Group. It's not the first time that Johnny Cash has been the subject of a lullaby tribute, but this collection features twelve classic songs reworked into nursery-friendly melodies for the youngest music lover in your family, along with lullabied versions of two songs that Cash himself covered and made into hits once more. Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star - Lullaby Versions of JOHNNY CASH will hit retail on September 3rd, and iTunes pre-orders just went live tonight. Get your pre-order in, and you'll receive "I Walk the Line" as an instant download... and, you can preview the track right here on The Rock Father below...

PBS KIDS VIP BloggerIt's a known fact that I'm not a fan of ICONA POP. While The Rock Father might not love "I Love It," I do love COOKIE MONSTER, and today my big blue friend finally made "I Love It" worth listening to through his reworked cover, "Me Want It." The new, Cookie-centric version of the song comes from SESAME STREET Season 44 (premiering September 16, 2013 on PBS KIDS!), in which Cookie Monster has his own segment to help kids learn to practice self-restraint. Check out Cookie's new video below, along with a full playlist of Sesame Street Season 44 Previews... including the SONS OF ANARCHY riff, "Sons of Poetry," and the introduction of Sesame Street's newest resident, 'Mando!

trittsingleA Father's Day cover song...

Though the song choice seems odd, a cover of the 1992 PATTY SMYTH duet with DON HENLEY, "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough," there is a reason why country star TRAVIS TRITT chose to record the song as a duet with his 15-year-old daughter, TYLER REESE...
