Montreal's SLAVES ON DOPE had a resurgence last year with the release of their fourth studio album, OVER THE INFLUENCE. Now, the band has released an EP of cover songs, cleverly titled, COVERS EP VOL. 1. The five-track digital set features new takes on songs from FAITH NO MORE, LOVERBOY, GENESIS, MARVIN GAYE, and SHERIFF. Tracklisting below...
As previously-previewed here on The Rock Father, Lullaby Versions of BRUNO MARS hits digital retailers today through Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star, the hugely popular line of pop rock lullabies from the Roma Music Group. The new album features a dozen of Mars' greatest hits, all transformed into intrumental lullabies for playing in your baby's nursery, or just chilling out. It's available on iTunes.
After dipping into the R&B/Pop realm the past couple of weeks with releases dedicated to ALICIA KEYS and RIHANNA, the folks at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star have swung back around to the rock this week for LULLABY VERSIONS OF BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE (get it now on iTunes). This new collection takes a dozen hits and fan favorites from the Welsh metallers and reworks them into "lush intrumental versions" perfect for your baby's nursery. Check out the full tracklisting and cover art below, along with a stream of "Tears Don't Fall" as originally heard on BFMV's 2005/06 release, THE POISON.
I don't review too many singles here on The Rock Father, and it's probably for the simple fact that there aren't a lot of bands that still release physical singles. For the California trio known as THE HIPWADERS, it's fitting that they do, as their music recalls better days for the music industry - a time when bands would crank out fresh music on a regular basis, serving it up regularly on 7-inch, 45rpm vinyl available only at the neighborhood record store. It's a very 1960s business model.
After a couple of weeks staying firmly-rooted in the rock realm with Lullaby Collections based on the works of PANTERA and AC/DC, the folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star have gone "pop" with the release of LULLABY VERSIONS OF RIHANNA. This set reworks a dozen of Rih-Rih's biggest hits into "lush instrumental versions" perfect for your baby's nursery. Can I make it through this news without taking a jab at CHRIS BROWN? No.
This is one of those audio oddities that landed here in my inbox at Rock Father HQ and demands to be shared. Australian rockers CIRCLE have just released their mellow cover of the 1992 WRECKX-N-EFFECT (featuring Teddy Riley) single, "Rump Shaker." Sound intriguing? They've also made it available as a FREE DOWNLOAD, and you can snag it in the soundlcloud player below, courtesy of Monday Records.
