AC/DC is the World’s Perfect Rock Band. It’s a scientifically-proven fact, and if you don’t believe me… well, I bet that there’s a study out there somewhere that can back that up.
Whether scientific or subjective, I do believe that there is not, nor will there ever be a hard rock band with as much “right” as AC/DC.
My daughter seems to agree.
The jazz classic KIND OF BLUE by MILES DAVIS has been released countless times over the years, but I think this might be the first time that it's been completely reworked with babies in mind. The folks over at Roma Music Group have just issued LULLABY VERSIONS OF KIND OF BLUE AND MILES DAVIS, an eight-song collection that transforms the entire Kind of Blue album and a pair of other Davis favorites into "lush instrumental versions" perfect for your smallest music lover.
"Closer" is one of my least favorite NINE INCH NAILS songs. I love some NIN, and I saw 'em live way back in '94 when they toured with MARILYN MANSON and THE JIM ROSE CIRCUS. That song, though? Never grabbed me. Now, Los Angeles-based STARS IN STEREO have given the song a shot of rock with a new cover that was unleashed this week. Hear it below.
ANTHRAX has finally confirmed the details on their long-discussed covers EP, ANTHEMS. Set for release in North America on March 19 (MRI/Megaforce), and on March 22 in Europe (Nuclear Blast), ANTHEMS features 'Thrax'd-up versions of some of the band's favorite songs from the 1970s.
The folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star first gave songs from the GRATEFUL DEAD a lullaby-reworking back in 2010 with their LULLABY VERSIONS OF GRATEFUL DEAD. Now, they've done it again with LULLABY VERSIONS OF GRATEFUL DEAD: Volume 2. This all-new collection features 13 'Dead classics reimagined into "lush instrumental versions" perfect for your little jam band fan's nursery. Check out the tracklisting below.
Back in May, Renee Stahl and Jeremy Toback, collectively known as RENEE & JEREMY, released their latest album, A LITTLE LOVE (read my full review here). A full collection of kid-friendly cover songs performed in a mellow, acoustic style, A LITTLE LOVE launched with a video for R&J version of COLDPLAY's "Yellow" (watch it here), and now it's spawned another. You can check out the new video for "Give it Away" (originally performed by the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) below...
