It was thirteen years ago that I bought THE FAINT's DANSE MACABRE? That's the realization that hit me tonight when browsing my emails to find the announcement that THE FAINT's first album since "ceasing to exist" in 2008 is about to hit the streets on April 8. DOOM ABUSE (pre-order now on iTunes) will be released by SQE Music, and today the music video for the first single hit the net. Check out "Help in the Head" below...

It's very appropriate to see bands like INFORMATION SOCIETY regrouping and returning to their roots... hearing how many current "alternative" acts have just been aping the 1980s new wave and electronic movements without due credit. Ahead of their summer 2014 album, _HELLO WORLD, Paul Robb (synths), Kurt Larson (vocals) and James Cassidy (bass, keyboards) will be releasing a new single called "Land of the Blind" on March 4 (via HAKATAK International), but you can check out the lyric video today, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

Oddly enough, it was almost exactly one month ago when we last caught up with METROPOLIS AMERICA, when the Philly New Wavers last dropped some FREE MUSIC for the masses. Now, the band is back with "A Stolen Heart in a Stolen Car," a brand-new FREE DOWNLOAD, and they've released a music video to go along with it. Check it out below...

Philadelphia New Wavers METROPOLIS AMERICA are tackling an interesting situation - having a crush on a close friend - on their recent single release, "Bittersweet." While the track hit speakers for the first time last month, it just hit my inbox here at Rock Father HQ this evening, and while the girls are all tucked-in, I've been stealthily listening to this track and others from the band for the past hour. Check out the video for "Bittersweet" below, and if you dig it - snag the track as a FREE DOWNLOAD via  Soundcloud. While you're there, you can pick up additional FREE DOWNLOADS from METROPOLIS AMERICA including "A Burden of Our Youth."

Watch: THE FATHERHOOD (Fiat 500L 12" Remix)

Back in December, the folks at Fiat UK scored a viral hit with THE MOTHERHOOD, a rap song dedicated to all the Moms (or "Mums") out there who "live large." It was only a matter of time before the Dads got some props, and last week Fiat UK hit The Rock Father with details on a new clip that was in the pipeline. Today, THE FATHERHOOD arrives - a four-minute ode to new Dads, presented in a throwback to 1980s New Romanticism complete with a Human League-esque melody... a Don Johnson-style MIAMI VICE jacket... floating dream sequences... and a Unicorn. Watch it below...

We're in one of those periods when the 1980's is making a comeback. There's a new DIE HARD movie coming out next month, ROBOCOP is headed back to Detroit, and Arnold Schwarzenegger really is "back" at the box office. On the musical front, NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK announced a tour today, DAVID BOWIE has new music out, and "Kids in America" singer KIM WILDE was recently seen performing on a train somewhere. In other news, KNIGHT RIDER and E.T. turned 30 last year, and being there the first time around, I feed a tad dated. But there's that new generation... the fruit of our loins that we're raising on a daily basis. As of today, even the LULLABY genre has gone 80's, with a double-dose of NEW WAVE LULLABIES from the folks at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star.
